Default ABS playing up

been a while since i've been on here but need some help with my parents AU 3 fairmont. They recently got new tires, pads and rotors put on and ever since then the abs has been randomly kicking in. it only happens occasionally 3-4 times a drive but it happens in weird spots like stopping at a traffic light or pulling in to a drive way. no hard braking. it feels like the drivers side front and you can feel it through the brake pedal and hear it. no lights come on the dash and our mechanic has but it on his diagnostic computer and no errors come up and he can't figure out what it is. he tried to fix it by again changing the brake pad and rotor and cleaned the sensor but made no difference. anyone have any ideas??

we had this with a cab a while back and it was actually the Diff the movement in the axle was causing the ABS to pulse . It took a while to work out but a diff specialist told us it is common in a live axle falcon

This makes sense to me as her diff has a bit of play where the driveshaft attaches so it clunks a bit when starting and stopping. Just need some more green stuff to fix that.

The last month or so I have had the exact same problem with my wagon. Although I am sure this is due to the 9" diff in the back having screwed around with the abs somehow. Sometimes it gets so bad that the light comes on indicating the abs is not active anymore. I can turn it off and on again and everything goes back to normal. Weird...I was wondering if the diff bloke didn't damage one of my sensors? Or if the toothed wheel is not sitting quiet right with the sensor? Or some movement of the axle? Although I really hope it is not the axle moving around.

the pinion bearings were flogged out and allowing the axles to move funny thing is it wasn't noisy but we saw the diff when he pulled apart and I'm surprised it hadn't self destructed long before this. cars can be strange things at times
