unless the turbo was rapidly cooled by the water which might cause some issues.

i would be asking/demanding the insurance replace the turbo as well, simply because turbos dont NORMALLY last as long as an engine... one might see them as a consumable part. getting it replaced now may save you from having to pay for it in 3 or 4 or 5 years time.

Has the turbo had any sort of failure or foreign material go through either the turbine or impeller sides? Any sign of water entry?
If the water came through the intake system or the up the exhaust piping and into the engine, it would have to go through the turbo, then into the engine, then yes, it be worth making some noise about an overhaul of the component or new item all together.
At a minimum, I would encourage the removal of the turbine and impeller housings and carry out visual inspections, along with shaft end float, run out and vertical thrust clearance checks. Check measurements against manufacturers specs.
Ensure upon assembly you prelube the turbo with clean engine oil into the oil supply hole (through the line) and spin the shaft. Listen for any contact or strapping.

Long story short, if water has gone through it, it needs to be pulled down and overhaulled (where certain mods can be done to help it spin up quicker, etc ) or replaced.
