Default Ef Xr6

I have my eye on a manual ef xr6 with 280000k on the clock for $8000. looks stock as a rock and is in pretty good condition from what iv seen. Just wondering what you guys think about the price and the kms?

Km's are high, but being 10 years old now, i guess 28,000km's per year is about right.

As long as the drivers door closes nice and firmly, feels nice to drive, and engine has a bit of power, i'd buy it. $8000 sounds a bit high though, maybe push him down to 7

I agree, at that mileage, no way I'd pay $8000. I paid $8000 for my EL GLi over a year ago - but only because it had 125,000 on the clock and was in immaculate condition, etc...

At 280,000, you can expect heaps of little niggling problems to start rearing their head... if you can get him down to $6000 then I would go for it but otherwise, no.

I reckon get her down to 7k and back that buy saying the 200,000km mark onwards is when parts start needing to be replaced.
And especially with 280 on the clock it's a good argument.

This Auto Guide site might help you with pricing these days and other info.

280,000... hmmmm... most taxis will do double that before being retired to redfern...

Just check all the usual wear areas etc... worth getting an nrma inspection I reckon...

I personally think that is a good price considering you are getting it from a dealer (most are still priced around the $10,000 plus mark).
In saying that, there is no reason you cant try to get the price down a bit but be prepared for them to not negotiate also.

Dont compare prices of an XR6 (or 8s etc) with a standard falcon/fairmonts ...you are buying the XR6 factor!!!!!!!

I know my car is over 250000ks and some things have had to be changed, but all in all unless the car was totally thrashed you will probably find its great..
Get a mechanic to go right over it though, (most only charge max $100 to do this) and then make up your mind if you really really want that particular car or not.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Far out, $8k?! Ridiculously overpriced. For that kind of kms Id be offering 5k MAX.

Honestly under 200,000km on it and it would be good buying at $6,000 to $7,500.

The k's are too high for the price.

they were a popular car lots of made so bargain and be prepared to walk and wait for another one to come up.

If you dont get him done to 6 walk away he will want your business and when you put any offer done and he says no and you walk away. He will know that he is losing business and with 280000 on it he knows he is ripping off anyone who buys it! You will get it for 6 if you do it the right way!
