Default Stabilizer Bar Assembly - What type?

As per my photos attached, I have the Stabilizer bar assembly with the bar coming in under the lower control arm.

Other pics I have seen, such as in Ellery's manual, show bar over top of arm connecting to a spacer.

Can someone please identify the type of suspension system that I have in my 2001 AU2 Fairmont Ghia Tickford, please?

you have standard series 2/3 front suspension. the series one was like earlier falcons with the anti-roll bar connecting above the control arm as per your description of the ellery manual.

As far as I am aware, not owning an XR6, the suspensions are identical bar perhaps spring rate, ride height anti-roll bar diameter and maybe bush stiffness. but the parts geometry are exactly the same and totally interchangeable.

Hi Peter.

Yes S2/3 are the same across the range, including the XR. To show you the difference between stock and aftermarket, here is a shot of my whiteline adjustable on my S2 LTD.

Thanks Stu and JP.
BTW, on my last photo, do you think the sway bar should be bolted up tight to the joint, or is that gap (maybe 5mm?) acceptable?
Peter

I assume you are referring to your last pic? A gap will be fine. As long as the nut is tight. You do not want the bar to be squashing the rubber boot.

by the looks of it, its done up to the shoulder on the ballstud so is tight. if it is loose it will rattle and bang and destroy itself very quickly.

While we have our head under the car, what is the name of the part stretching from upper control arm to lower arm, in the middle photo?

Spindle, Knuckle or some cal it an upright...assuming your referring to the part which has the stub axle and brake brackets mounted.
