I have a 1991 EB series I Fairmont Ghia. On 03/05/2005 I had the car retrofitted with the newer 134A airconditioning system and regassed. I have used the airconditioning twice since then. The first time was just before Christmas and the air being pumped in the car was less than cool. There was also a hissing sound coming from, what appeared to be under the dash on the front passenger side.
The second time I used the airconditioning was yesterday 01/01/2006 at about 6:50 pm. The car had been sitting in the garage all day. I drove about half way to work - some 10 kilometres when the air just became unbearable so I turned the airconditioning on closed up the windows. I was unimpressed as the air coming from the vents was hotter than the outside temperature and the hissing sound started again. Now the doors, etc on the normal ventilation system are all in order - that is fresh air and so on, so I don't think there is a leak in the system. I have also run several diagnostic system checks and the climate control passes with no errors showing. With all this in mind any ideas or suggestions you have will be most appreciated. : :1syellow1 |

could only be a leak, or your pump has crapped itself?

Loud hissing from the TX valve is a good sign the system is low on refrigerant, and therefore there is a possible leak.
