Default Ford Launches First-of-Its-Kind Dealer Ordering System for Mustang

Ford Australia launches its first-ever pre-ordering website for dealers in response to unprecedented early interest in all new Mustang

More than 15,000 potential owners already have expressed interest in the new Mustang that launches in late 2015

In just the first few days since launching, Ford dealers already have registered 1,200 orders, including 600 customers who already have put down deposits

Mustang joins refreshed portfolio including all-new Mondeo, Everest SUV and refreshed Focus and Focus ST in 2015

MELBOURNE, 15 Dec., 2014 – Ford Australia for the first time is launching a pre-ordering system for the new Mustang so dealers can identify the most serious buyers among the unprecedented 15,000 customers who asked for details about the new car.
The system allows dealer staff at over 200 dealerships around the country to capture details of customers looking to purchase the new Mustang. Given Mustang’s role as a halo vehicle, the site will also help dealers identify customers who may have been drawn by the new car but are more likely to choose among Ford’s array of other new products.
“The Mustang is drawing people to Ford well in advance of its arrival, and we’ve reacted quickly to find a way to communicate with these new potential owners,” said Bob Graziano, President and CEO, Ford Australia. “With more and more customers coming forward each week, this new pre-ordering system will allow us to plan and cater to their specific requests from the outset.”

“In addition, the Mustang is giving people a new reason to think about Ford and, a truly exciting opportunity to show Australians the future of our brand.

“We realize many people who are drawn to us by Mustang may choose a Ford vehicle in a different segment, giving us a great chance to show them our exciting new lineup of stylish, innovative products.”

The website, accessible to registered Ford dealers, will also allow customers to specify their preferences, including colour, transmission, engine and body style (coupe or convertible). Dealer’s interaction with the system will also enable Ford to better forecast and meet demand.
In just the first few days since launching, Ford dealers already have registered 1,200 orders, including 600 customers who already have put down deposits.

The all-new Mustang
The all-new Mustang is the most advanced version yet of the iconic pony car. The sleek new design of Mustang fastback and convertible is backed up by world-class performance from a range of available engines, including a new turbocharged EcoBoost 2.3-litre and an upgraded 5.0-litre V8 that is expected to produce more than 320 kW.
Designed to meet the needs of drivers looking for outstanding performance and fuel efficiency, the new 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine has been developed specifically for Mustang. The intake manifold and turbocharger housing are optimised to provide better breathing and higher output in Mustang.

Mustang owners will have a choice between a six-speed Getrag manual gearbox and the updated six-speed automatic transmission, further improving on the previous Mustang drive experience.

The arrival of the new Mustang continues Ford’s product onslaught over the course of 2015 which includes the arrival of the recently revealed new Mondeo, eagerly anticipated Ford Everest SUV, as well as the refreshed Focus and Focus ST.
