Happened to my EL, the clearcoat went on the rear left corner.
Anyhow the panelbeater fixed for $400 bucks, stripped the roof and blended the paint in on the pillars (he did a good job and i was quite impressed).

Yeh $400, The Panel shop however did a very good job.
The panelbeater was happy to have some private not insurance work- paid cash - 2 days no problem. Oh yeah i forgot to mention, they had to pull both screens when they did it and replace both of the windscreen moulds.

It was slowly following the ridge towards the front of the car so i've put some clear nail polish on the edges to arrest the problem until the car gets a complete respray.. Really pi*sed me off when this little section started lifting.. my paint is (was) in immaculate condition. |

Yeh once they start lifting its you can say sayonara to your roof's clearcoat. Moisture gets under the clearcoat and the whole things bubbles and peels away slowly. Bit like gelcoat osmosis in boat's I suppose.
I think its just the luck of the draw if it happens to your car or not, some cars seem worse than others, ive noticed the TR/TS Magna's and early C class Merc's seem to have a bodgy clearcoat.
