Hi guys well i ordered my king sl today and they should be here on monday or tuseday cost me $240 (is that a good price) and also my mechanic said he would put them in for me for $100 those this sound right to install just 4 springs and if not how much should it cost me thanks guys

u got springs i take it, as well u got all 4 for that price, thats not bad
for $100 thats prity good, u got all new shocks and new struts i take it for the lowering? |

Save ya $100 shmackos and put them in yourself amigo.
I put in my front end springs today and once you know how it all goes in, its darn easy. Takes no time at all. You could use the money to get the wheels aligned instead. And yeah the $240 is the good going rate for a full set these days.

yes u will need new shocks and struts mate, cause ur shocks are still used to your stock springs you had on there, basicly so it adjusts itself to the new springs
front strust = $120 rear shocks = $100 or less monro gas gt shocks are best in my opinion for just something quick and cheap, gets the job done ;) didnt ur mechanica tell u who would be adding new shocks and struts? also like ef machine said, its a fairly simple job, dead easy, once uv done it the first time ull know everytime, all you need is a jack and some tools |

yes you can install the springs with standard shocks. I dont know wtf jjm is talking about..
It is recommened you get new shocks, as the standard ones will not give as good ride comfort as short travel shocks, nor will they last as long.

It usually says in the King Springs catalogue whether or not it's a must, ie: VL wagon suggests rear's are replaced.. It would be ideal but I'm sure he'll get away with it.

I've never replaced any shocks in my cars which have all been lowered on superlows, SSL back............ EA, AU and BA.
Never had any problems.

you don't NEED shortened shocks..im sure it would be a nicer ride...but you will probly need new shocks
i got the normal monroe gt's.....the only down side i guess is they'll get flogged out quicker |

I put King SL's in the EF a while ago, the K-Mac shocks were fine with Tickford springs, within a month the front shocks were totally rooted, I'd hit a pothole and the steering wheel would shake like crazy, and the ride was ИИИИ basically. The rear shocks on mine were fine with SL's for about 6 weeks.
If you don't change the shocks now, you will be changing them within the next 6 months, so you would be worthwhile to get a pair of front shocks now and be done with it.

I put SL's in my car with standard shocks, and theyve done like way too many km's didnt even pass the "backyard shock test". Still wacked em in, and its not that bad.. Little bit bouncy sometimes but not that noticeable, unless you are sitting in the back for a while.. Its been about a year now havent touched anything since..

I didnt put a caster kit on but should be soing so soon, coz the insides of my tyres wear out quick as with an allignment.

save some dosh and get some better shocks
ul get sick of the dam bouncey ride mate trust me plus put them in ur self then that laboure money can go to springs |

Thanks for all your help/advice guys spoke to the guy at the suspention joint and will be keeping the stock shocks for now i know itrs abad idea n might as well just change em now but budget wont allow for that lol so it will be superlows n 17's with stock shocks for now lol thanks again

my EA has been lowered for like 4 years on stock shocks, and it still rides better than a lot of cars with stock spring and shocks. Don't be worried about running stocko shocks.

Im tossing up wether to get a set of springs and shox from east....vic....for 600 on my doors step....gt and low kings....and fit them my self...how can i get around not having a spring compressor. otherwise ill get a set of low kings with kybs fitted for 840.? any advice?

I bought my car with superking lowered springs, but still standard shocks. The ride is terrible, I finally am going to do something about it.
Anyone recommend a reasonably priced set of short travel shocks for front and rear? I say reasonably priced because my falcon is just a w/e cruiser, and it's stock except for the springs and rims. I don't plan to do it up in any way or race it in any sense of the word. I just what something decent that will last the km's in a car with lowered suspension. |

pedders sports ryder for the front give u a good ride with super lows. never even seen short shocks for the rear of a falcon.
btw 100 bux is cheap to put in 4 springs. |

Yeah you'll find you will need a camber/caster kit. When lowered, the top of the tyre will will tilt in towards the car, giving a mean negative camber. Great for cornering, but really bad for your tyre!
As far as shocks go, definately recommended. If you supplied the shocks, should be zero addition to labour as they have to be removed anyway. I too have the sports ryder in the front, and the big bore in the rear. Drives and handles great. Can be a little bumpy, but is not unbearable. There is a shortend shock for the rear, but rarely need it. All its for is to keep the rear springs captive. |
