Default Bloody Long Weekends!

Always bring out the "holiday" drivers...

Driving home on Monday night, decided to go into Safeway and see if they had any Easter eggs left. Half way through the roundabout in Belgrave, and a Camry driver decides to test the structural integrity of her car. She didn’t even see me, going by the speed at which she crashed into the rear wheel arch of the EB. Swung me around 180 degrees over the curb, all while my girlfriend was watching from the car behind. Think it shook her up more than me!

All exactly 12 hours before I was going to buy an AU engine to replace the 300,000km old (but still going strong) 3.9.

It ended up being a fair bit of damage, unfortunately. The diff housing, control arms and basically the rest of the rear suspension are bent, so you can imagine the 3km drive home was fun. Thankfully the other driver has admitted fault, but it’s been a hassle to say the least dealing with the insurance company and trying to get some quotes this afternoon. I really don’t the car written off, as it’s very clean inside, not too bad on the outside, and was looking to make a nice project with the AU engine and trans to keep me occupied on a few weekends.

Funny thing is her Camry wouldn’t even start, and the brakes went strait to the floor. Had to roll it down Terry’s avenue in Belgrave, so if anyone knows that intersection, it was a lot of fun in fairly busy traffic. Thankfully everyone was alright, just a little shaken. Didn’t think a relatively minor hit would hurt so much, though the panadole has helped so far.

Anyway, did anyone else have any horror stories from the long weekend? Besides the insane drive on the Monash to get anywhere for the Melbourne chaps…!

Oh, I know this thread is useless without pictures. They're coming soon, can't find the cable for my phone.

Yeah, a couple of times a year I get really scared while driving. Yesterday driving back to Melb from Ballarat was one of those times. Very busy freeway, and lots of people who clearly aren't paying attention to what they are doing.

On these holiday peak periods so many people have no idea about lane discipline. Clearly the mainstream Australian interpretation of 'keep left' is 'I'll do whatever the hell I like'.

On normal days, most people are fine. But it seems the reverse is true at Easter. It must be that there are lots of people who spend all their time driving around the suburbs, and once a year they venture out into the countryside but don't realise that they need to drive differently.

Yep the usual morons out and about, i usually just do the ******* thing and dodge in an out of them till i'm in front, there's nothing like following 3 cars in the right lane that are all doing 10kays below the limit with nothing in front of em. The mosash is a ИИИИing joke any time of the day, all these roadworks going on near the pound road side are realy screwing things up, i sure hope this other freeway is worth all this ИИИИ in the long run. Sorry to hear about the smash, hope you are ok and everything gets sorted.
