Default Oil catch device

I'm guessing most people here know what blow-by gas is, im just wondering if anyone has set up an oil catch device on their engine?

Nope , as on the AU it has to run back into the intake otherwise its unroadworthy. With some older cars with different emission/pollution ratings/laws they are bound by, it might be still legal on some setups , but as for the AU's it's a no go (Probably legal on the track though) .. I dunno .

well it has to run back into the intake on any car. all the catch can does is stops the oil from the blow by going back into the engine. the actual air from it still gets sucked into the intake just not the oil

ah cool , different setup to what i have seen , seen it done on old cars years ago except it was completelly removed , air and oil , it just ran into a tin can under the bonnet with a sponge in it to stop any spray . You could use the same kinda thing to absorb the oil spray , hose going into a screw top tin ( sealed ) with a sponge inside to absorb the oil and remove it from the air , then another hose back out of the tin back to the intake , that should be legal .

Turbocharged and supercharged cars do it moreso than a Naturally aspirated vehicle .... it can be done though .... there is a seperator can .. and has plumbed fitting that come from the breather to the can ... and then back into the intake.

Also on the actch can there's a tap usually at the bottom that allows you to drain it out.

There's some nice polished ones out there on the market with bling anodised fittings

yeah ive seen them, i have made one for my au, all it consists of is an air compressor moisture filter in the pcv line. they do work well and they keep your engine a lot cleaner. a cheap way but for $17 it does the job

it s only illegal if it doesnt go into the manifold. A proper set up catch can plumbed into the line will trap a great deal of oil and let vapour through and still be legal
