Default Diff upgrade

Sup fellas,

Just wondering for those who have upgraded their ratio eg. from 3.08 to 3.45 or 3.7 how much difference did you notice with the take off? Can you compare the improvment with something like fitting a set of extractors or something? I know that the ratio upgrade does not give you power gains but rather helps it off the line a lot better, but how much better? :evilsasmo

ive got 4.11's in mine. first and second gear are great and only sits at 2400rpm at 100km/h. i'd always recommend 4.11's. they not as low as ppl make out they are.

A really short diff for your auto (read: 3.9 or 4.11) will get you off the line quicker, but for overall 1/4 mile stuff you'd probably want a moderately short diff (say, a 3.7) plus a stally (2500-3000rpm), as the stally gives more of a launch due to having the revs closer to your peak torque figure. Make sure you have a tranny cooler too to keep the box happy.

My 5.0 auto sits on 2250rpm @ 100kph (with 4.11s). Mine is much better around town now (takeoff and fuel usage), but it loses a bit of top-end power (ie overtaking at highway speeds).

3.7's or 3.9's in an auto would be good. i had 3.9's when mine was an auto, and it hammered off the line. probably more noticable difference with the diff gears than extractors.

definitely get bigger tranny cooler, as it will get a little warmer.
