Question AU 11 Wagon Cargo Barrier

Hello all

I have an AUII wagon, 7 seater. With the two extra seats can I now install a cargo barrier?

Cheers
Blake

You shouldn't need one now if the cargo in the back is actually belted into their seats!

I'm not sure how the seats are bolted to the floor, they may be using the bolt spaces needed to anchor the barrier.

Also, let's say that you could get the barrier in there, you couldn't put a perspex one in there, the kids would cook! One more thing, if you put the wire one in there, would the kids hit it with their heads, arms and feet in a stack?

My verdict, don't get one! Hope the comments help.

no. It is illegal to have a cargo barrier installed if there are seats behind it. Effectively you would create a deathtrap as anyone in those seats (kids) would not be able to get out of the car. The cage stops them using the rear doors and the tailgate cannot be opened from the inside.
Even if you never use the seats they "exist" and therefore make it illegal to install the barrier until they are removed.

Well, there you have it! The definitive answer! I was thinking you might post on this one Casper!

Casper and GK.
Thank you both very much for your comments.

In fact, we would only have used the cargo barrier for the odd times when transporting the dog. (No passengers would be using the extra rear seats)

regards and thanks again

No problems Blake.

If you don't actually use the seats, take them out, then intall the barrier!
