Post How to: Linking to your personal page

Ok, now that we are nearing completion of our photo uploading software, and are well advanced in our login and member database procedures, we have finalised a way for members to link to their page.

Previously, the page name was an User ID number we use on the database to keep track of you all, but that could no longer be used as the dynamic database changes it when members are added or removed, depending on where in the alphabet the change occurs.

How to link to your own page

So! To make a long story short (too late), this is the way you will always be able to link to your own personal page:

http://www.eurofordclub.com/php/details.php?m=chevaps

Using the link above, the only thing that changes is after the equals sign, to your member name, which is the name you use to log into the site.

The only problem comes with people who have spaces in their name, like Fast Eddie. Good old inter-my-net makes a space a "%20", so therefore Eddies page name turns out as:

http://www.eurofordclub.com/php/deta...m=Fast%20Eddie

If you are not sure what your pages name will be, go to http://www.eurofordclub.com/php/view.php, search your car, and then go to your page, and it will be the address at the top of the page! You will always be able to link to your page using that link!

I hope that makes it clear to people, if anyone has any questions, or suggestions about what else they want on their page, bring them up here!

Cool, thanks for that Tim, what other changes are planned for the site?

The ability for you guys to upload your own photos, where the site will automatically re-size the photos to fit. Increase the photo size as well.

I'm also looking at a big overhaul of the resource centre, as it's been pretty stagnate of late, so will look at enhancing that. Might divide some areas up for the different models, have a common section, trying to keep track of any sites that sell parts that relate to our cars. Might start a new thread for members to post sites that they find, that sell stuff for our cars, or generic stuff like bonnet vents and other tuner parts.
