My transmission isn't very happy and I want to get another from the wreckers because its cheaper than the $2700 rebuild. If I was to buy for example an AU V8 tranny, or any other model V8, will it bolt straight in to the EB, or will I have to track down an EB box?
Any info will be appreciated

$2700 rebuild? :S
EB-AU BTR *should* bolt on, and I believe the EF-AU BTRs still have a separate TCM. Same bellhousing, input shaft size/length, etc. Keep your shifter & linkages though, the AU's setup is different in this respect. |

I know that the bottom bolts on the bellhousing of an EA-EL BTR don't line up with the AU engine. You can only tighten the middle and 2 top bolts.

Keep in mind we're talking about V8's. They bolt straight up EB-AU.
AU's don't have a seperate TCM, as they use a proper EEC-V. Keep in mine EF2 and EL transmissions won't have dipsticks. Not that big a problem, unless the trans leaks at all. I don't know where you got the $2700 quote from, but you can get BTR's rebuilt to handle 450rwkw for around that price...
