Hulk,

You should open a car yard - why?

All the cars will;

* Be low klm's
* Do 0-100 in less than 5 secs
* Have zero mechanical issues (seals etc)
* Very desirable
* Increase in value
* Meet the buyers neighbours approval
* Not get caught past 100 klm/hour
* Be excellent talking points at bbq's etc

have I missed anything?

Phase 3 please. It even got specked up with a/c I bet it still works with no sensor/wiring or canbus errors either unlike the modern vehicle and they are only getting more technical.

But as for the post title I did a head gasket replacement at work on 2 identical 5s-fe camry wagons 1 had 340xxx k's the other had 12xxxx k's. High k car was like new internally, the 120k car I had to scrape /chisel sludge off head bolts to undo them.
Oils aint oils as John Laws said.
My preference is penrite. SN rating

Yeah, older cars are a better buy.

The best buy is the car you most enjoy owning and driving. One that continually satisfies you for years on end, whenever you open the door and sit in it in the garage, and when driving it. Whether its high mileage or low, new or old.
so what your saying is that everyone should buy the newest cheapest nastiest car they can afford. Buy that ex chaser for that pre thrashed feel.

who would want a mint car with low km...idiots..

Id have an FG done 60k over a BF that has done 7k any day. The BF was at its best when it was released 10 years ago..

FG is a better car, and when its time to sell will be worth more anyway.

Cars are made to be driven not sat in a garage keeping the Ks low. Modern cars are that good that 200k is nothing nowadays

The purpose of the thread is NEWER/high KM or older/Low km

you have completely misread the thread.

By the way Id take the mint XR6T anyday.. who wants a bucket of rust GT that is basically unfit for a wrecking yard. Even new its slower than most cars today, in that shape be lucky to fend off a Suzuki swift. Would you honestly swap your B series GT for it?

Oh dear Hulkie, that genuine Hoey would still be far more favoured and desired in that condition or worse then your dearly beloved BF turbo, and what’s more it will still be worth more then your purchase.

How does it feel to know a old rust bucket is worth more then your fully mint ride, pal.

I can honestly say that if I had a B series GT and someone that owned a GTHO in that condition come to me and wanted to swap I wouldn’t blink an eye lid, I’d swap in a heart beat, do you actually understand the desirability of a genuine GTHO that has not even been restored, I don’t think you do.

Geez hulk, we really need to get you a big wooden spoon, you sure know how to stir the pot.

I take it the above comment about the Phase 3 was purely tongue in cheek, surely no one on a Ford Forum is that naive?

If we're being honest, BF turbos are a dime a dozen. And if a low kay XR6 Turbo is your holy grail, Ford sell them brand new- how's that for mint A genuine GT is a different story, I think it's in bad taste to be comparing one to a B series XR6.

Keeping your car low kms to keep it's resale value high is like not having sex with your Mrs so the next guy enjoys her more...
Get in that BF and give her the thrashing every woman so badly needs... :P

Ps. Id choose the phase III over any car any day... Especially if it has less than 8 cylinders lol

*as long as its not full of rust*

I’m not the one in denial though pal, I fully understand the question and that no fool in their right mind would turn down an offer to swap a ordinary every day of mil B series vehicle for one of Australia’s finest muscle car of all time.
