Default I'm torn between cars

Hi people

Ive been looking at el's lately and ive found a couple and i can't decide which to go for 1st one ive been looking at is a dark blue 96 el xr6 with 163 on the clock has already been lowered, rim exhaust and headers for 7500 which i like but odn't know much about because he knows sfa about the car which he got from his boss how got it from some young guy at ford apparently anyway. the other 2 cars a futura's ones a white Sapphire 180 kms and stock another a red one not a Sapphire and 170 kms

i really like the xr but the other two have original plates and know the full history of the car so i could do what i want with them but then the xr is already done so all it needs is a sound system.

so im torn between cars, WHAT SHOULD I DO.

I'm one for individuality, so I'd be wanting to buy a totally stock car, and make the mods myself.

If the xr has a good service history I guess I would go for that as you can sell the rims etc and make it to your own liking but if it has nothing stay well away imo.

all i can say is reserch the build dates on any 98 el you want to look at

i have a 98 el gli sapphire and it is a pain in the butt

i cant get a normal e-series cam for it (unless i change rocker gear )

this leaves me with au grinds and they are hard to find

hope this helps

i would go the xr. assuming the guy hasnt had any problems since he got it. and it apears in good nick.
i got my car knowing nothing about its history except for the fact it had been in a dealers lot for a matter of days.
and it is the best car we have got between me and my brothers cars. for the same price range.

so history is not everything.

Vote 1 for XR. Its already lowered, full exhaust and mags and all for a pretty good price. Take it for a drive and see if she runs well.
Is it manual or auto?

Get the XR checked by a mechanic, do a REVS check on it, and if both of those come up OK, go for the XR. A Futura will never be an XR, but an XR always will be (if that makes sense). I have a Futura, and would love an XR.

You have not said the price of the other 2 cars ?, also i would not be in a rush as prices on these will drop again soon, and i am sure you could move up to a better car for less money and less hassle if you wanted to.

I'd negotiate on the XR a bit. Start at $6000 and work up from there, but you should get it in the 6's somehwere ($6700 would be a good price), which would put it not much more than the futura, but it's a whole lot of cool car for that price. Get it checked out by a mechanic though, and amplify any issues with it, as this will help bargain the price down - be prepared to spend around $1500 on bits to get it back to a good state - anything more than that, and you will do what I've just done and paid too much. Though mine was a back trade, so it didn't cost me anything really, just cash that I didn't want to spend getting a car up to RWC & could've used elsewhere.
