Hi guys,
Well it might be time for the LTD to go as I want an EL GT. I'm getting it valued tomorrow and If I am likely to get 13-14G for it, then I might put it up for sale in a week. I want a more unique car and I am not saying the LTD isn't but I have a poster on the wall at home that I look at everyday of the 30th Anniversary EL GT and every time I look at it the more I want one. It will be hard to decide if it is worth it or not as they are going for at least 30G and not many around so I thought I would put this thread up to see what peoples thought are. Is it worth it do you think? The LTD is a very nice car and my girl friend is very upset about it but im not sure What i should do. Cheers guys, Mark

I dont think I have ever seen the LTD, but yeah I think you will be lucky to get anything over $7k. Cars like our beloved e series are dropping in price rapidly, which sucks when you are trying to sell.
Poor old Thornspawn cant shift an EL2 XR8 for $7500! If I could sell my Ghia then I would have brought his XR8 by now, but I cant even get any serious interest with $6k!

The GTs look awesome. You might have to keep saving for a bit though, Mark. Unfortunately, unlike the rest of e-series, the GTs aren't rapidly dropping in value.

a dealer will give $7000 as a trade in. Even a concorde wont get $10,000 as trade in.
Mark- id go with an ebgt- $20,000 for the one near me and manual

I doubt you'll pull that much Mark, sorry to say... These cars aren't exactly young anymore... The first E-series' are almost 20 years old! :P
Still, the LTD is a damn nice car, and you shouldn't have too much trouble selling it... The thing is, will it be worth selling? Will you regret it later? I reckon, if anything sell the EB, use the LTD as a daily and get your hands on a GT for a weekend warrior Win-win situation... well, maybe not financially... but I can bet you'll be happy... Banks are more than happy to throw money at people... Do what'll make you happy...

Sorry to agree with everyone else, but for a DF LTD, I think you'd be lucky to get 7 in today's market.

how many el gt's do you see for sale! what happens if you sell the ltd, and no gt's are going for the price you will pay. Also have to think how long will it take to pay off the loan needed!

whatever you do, dont use the GT as a daily driver. Parts for them are just about impossible and any decent prang (even just a rear ender) could mean a writeoff simply cos there's no parts to fix it.

i was in a very similar situation only 7months ago.
selling my immac, perfectly spec'd nl fairlane by tickford.. had alot of trouble getting what i was thinking it was worth, problem was everyone said its worth it, but didnt have cash, i ended up sending it to the top of aust to a guy for around 15k from memory (cant believe ive already forgoteen) i need cash back then, and stupidly now needing a 2nd car, as bad as it'd be on fuel as a 2nd car, it'd rock my world again ;) haha it was awesome and i miss it bad, i feel ripped off getting rid of it, was one of a kind and as much as i love it replacement, it was an awesome cruiser. Now, im driving an eb fairmont as a 2nd car looking for a decent upgrade for it, subaru liberty gt premium proberly, no good fords that are suitable now.. my advice, keep the ltd as it aint worth anything (sad, but true, i know from exp) and you may aswell keep loving it n sell your older ford. goodluck and gt sounds like a tough choice, but a fairlane by tickford is your gt blended with your ltd, best of both worlds :P |

Mark, look out for an FBT, there a bit cheaper than the GT, and just as rare/unique.
Your LTD is mint, id put it on gas and keep it as a daily, and bring the FBT out on weekends :P |

I'm not sure where you're located, but there's 2 GT's for sale within 10km of me (Croydon).

It's not an el xr8 with high km's, or that interesting green either, it's got every option possible, it's close to immaculate inside and out with exception of the front bar which needs a lick of paint. This car has some serious class. Your car is a 6 and only a Ghia, i know of a Ghia that sold nearly for double of yours just recently, i do agree that it's a buyers market, but if someone wants the car they will pay as it's usually worth it...

I know of a EL GT for sale, normally parked at a Mooroolbark / Croydon Tennis club on Hull Rd. on weekends with a big "For Sale" board in the front window. Was going to check it out last weekend but got over it because I was hung-over and we drove too far past it.
There was another blue one that was for sale, owned by a P plater who works at Mooroolbark coles. It was pretty good about 1.5 years ago when he got it but the poor car's full of trolley dents now. I cringe when I see it. Such a waste. It was for sale a little while back as well. I'm actually surprised at how many EL GT's I see in my area. I think there's about 4 or 5 lurking around the outer east of Melbourne. Anyways, hope your serious about buying one. Sundeep |
