Default Installing electric windows

Well tonight and tomorrow (i have the day off work yay!) I'm going to try and install electric windows in my car. Its an ebII gli wagon...

I have:
ed fairmont door trims (from a wagon),
body/door wiring looms, centre console, 4 electric window regulators, switches from an ed fairmont ghia sedan.

Has anyone done this before and got any tips? I think what i'm going to do because the wiring loom is from a sedan i can't really use it in the wagon because it goes to the tail lights, fuel pump etc which will be different in a wagon. So I'll work out which wiring is for the windows and strip it from the sedan wiring loom. and just put that wiring in.

Also I've heard putting the window regulators in is hard to do?

I've also bought degreaser to clean up the rails for the window regulators and some spray on lithium grease for them.

i would take all door trims off, maybe even pull out your front seats? as u have to run cabling to the center console and install that also, then the exciting part of running it all :P lol

oh and for the window regs hav a drill handy to drill out the factory rivets, its abit of stuffin around getting it bak together and its an idea to get some bolts as without rivets they need to be mounted somehow!

u need a hammer (and maybe centre punch) to knock the the centre of the rivets... then u can drill them.

I think there is some info on fordmods about the size of bolt you need.
I *think* one of the regs had those slide over nut things (so all u need to do it put a bolt in)
if you have a look at the drivers door one u'll see what i mean (i think it was on that one :P)

i beleive that would be the easiest way of doing it, as trying to put the nuts on from inside the door can be a pain (but doable)

Umm since your car is a GLi ben, your going to have to make up your own wiring since there isnt any wiring provision on the dash loom since its a GLi loom and not a Fairmont/Ghia. Unless you plan on swapping over all your looms.

does the BEM give the power delay on EA-ED ???

I wired mine up to constant +12V, makes winding them up much better

just pull that loom apart you got ben, the electric window loom is seperate when all the tape is off. you wont need a fairmont BEM either. EA-ED dont have electric window delay. just make sure you run a decent fuse to the main power wire.
