Default T-Body Spacer - AU XR's

Hi all

I was in ford a week ago, looking at the technical diagrams of the manifold and throttle body, and seen a Throttle body spacer for Pursuits, T3's and 220 Xr's.

I was wondering, why does ford spares say this was put on these models, when my car doesn't even have one.

The spacer sits between the T-Body & manifold and costs about $230.

I ordered one from Ford and it is sitting there to be picked up, what I want to know is whether it will make any power gains on my car, cause i'm not going to waste that kind of money for nothing and why they were never put into these cars :togo:

I havnt got any pics of it, but on the computer it looks like it spaces the T-Body out about 20mm, would this have any advantages? :

Cheers

James

It's not a phenolic spacer is it?? If it is, then it should help with low down torque, by making the intake runners longer. It also keeps the upper and lower manifolds separated, which helps to keep heat of the upper (cool air = better). Got any pics of this part?

Isn't that just the EGR spacer found on the non-220s? (ie 185 & 200s).

correct, thats it. EGR spacer, but they listed it for pursuit, t3 & 220's. I was wondering whether it would make any improvements. Like the spacers you can get for BA - BF's

I think you have been had, the 220's have the Tickford throttle body and the spacer is actually casted into the whole T/B unit, the 185 and 200kw had the EGR spacer which is about 20mm thick and its 65mm in diam, they are blocked off on the egr side anyhow but you need them to get it right for the cables and things. Tell them if they dont know their product to do something else.

Ok so no good then, adding the spacer would only cause a restriction because its going from 70mm T-body to 65mm spacer then into manifold.

That and you would need to change all 4 studs for longer ones and then do some mods to the acc cable and some wiring posibly if its not long enough. Ask Ford do they sell the longer studs that you will need and see what wizz bang item they have for you. Ford are idiots they should train them better as not everyone knows these things.

The EGR spacer was the first thing I thought of, James if you can, have another sz at Microcat and just double check that it's saying it is for those models. If its an EGR spacer, that means it's not for the 70mm TB, and all of those models have the 70mm TB, so Im thinking that it may be a part litsed for all except the models you listed. The way Ford explain things in the system is damn hopeless.

Cheers everyone, I will just tell them to send it back. I'm not going to waste my money for nothing. I'll either spend my money on a cam and springs or maybe a G & D airbox would be nice.

If I go cam and springs it'll be a while before I can install, G & D airbox on the other hand hmmmm....
