Default Adelaide - and the Burbs

Well it just might be time for Ben to go and hitch the trailer load up all his gear and go on another road trip... well not really a road trip but a relocation trip...

I've lived in Sydney, Brisbane (and all around SE Qld), Melbourne, Geelong and I'm thinking of moving to Adelaide just for something different...

Where are the nice (but resonably priced) burbs.

Cheers

Ben

Positive part about Adelaide is you can move a fair distance away and still have reasonable travel times into the city.

Are you buying or renting?

I rent a place in Burnside, in the eastern suburbs of Adelaide. It's pretty sweet. Crime virtually non existant as mostly old people around here. Heaps quiet. Most of the houses around here have decent backyards. Very expensive to buy tho, rent isnt too bad - expect $250/week for a 3br house with front and back yard etc. etc.

Apart from here, I've rented in parkside, just south of the city. It was ok but mostly flats and apartments around there nowadays - not much good for a dog IMO.

Might wanna look at the Adelaide Hills, this is where I grew up and it's awesome up there. Some parts of the hills feel like you're living in the 19th century but the towns along the freeway (crafers, stirling, aldgate, bridgewater) are cool.

I used to live down south (Noarlunga area). I t was handy to everything, 10 mins to the beach, 15 mins to Glenelg, 45 mins to CBD. Heaps of shops and stuff down main south raod too - oh and there's a nice U-Pull-It in lonsdale down the road... I kinda miss Adelaide.

I've lived in the Tea Tree Gully council area (North east of the CBD) for a long time and find it good here. A broad mix of cheaper and rediculously expensive houses to choose from.

Depending how padded your wallet is you may look further east, Burnside, Magill, Netherby etc.

Smithfield hey BOOSTNEF?? Gotta love being beaten to death in a carpark in the middle of the day.

Saw that on the news.
Might start ignoring red lights in Smithfield to get through it quicker.

All the previous suburbs are good.

In Adelaide, it is best to steer clear of suburbs ending in Park, although Mitchell Park ain't too bad.

Personally I'm from Blackwood and it's a car nutters heaven up there. The Mand V automatcis (who do nice rebuilds on the BTR trans), Blackwood dyno and heaps of other repair shops.

Rose Park aint too bad either if you have a spare 2mill burning a hole in your pocket.

I would go for one of the eastern or south eastern suburbs if you can afford it.. or in the Adelaide Hills is also good... I'd definatly stay away from a lot of the northern suburbs though :P... There are a few up there that are ok though..

hey im from the ghetto and im just fine.... i live in northfield which at times can feel like the ghetto but its not too bad, my paretns have been in the same house for over 25years and we've only had one attempted break in, which was x-mas eve 2003! i bet that guy had a good x-mas in jail! its pretty central, 10mins to tea tree plaza, 15 to town (with light traffic), 15 - 20 to the beach and 20 mins to elizabeth (not that theres anything good out there).

if you want to stay in the garbo game then some were close to wingfield would be ideal, i.e pooraka, northfield, enfield, greenacres, walkley heights or northgate (both new developments). these are about 10mins max to there but arent that bad areas. some were north eastern. personally id stay clear of the west and some of the south. far north is shit too.

my mates old house is in broadview and that was 3bd/rm, 2bth/rm, car port, and huge back yard and that was 180p/w. just got to look for the good deals. its a good area with minimal crime and if you wanted to buy that house it would of cost you more then 450k.
