hye guys just thought i would show u my new engine mods....not much but yea

full 3 inch mendrel bent CAI with pod...makes a massive difference with throttle response.

and a set of extractors

would want to possibly put a brace somewhere on that pipe if you havnt already??

otherwise the weight and vibration will eventually tear your silicon joiner

yea ill be making mounts for it just gotta wait for cousin so he can weld it up

the BBM is the Broad Band Manifold
aka the grey bit that has 6 humps and the throttle body connected to it

my intake tube you can hear it rattling through the firewall inside the car
its a real pain

i think i may have to file away some of the metal hopefully that will solve my rattles

So that what it called Learn somthing every day I thought it was just called a air intake manifold.

nope
because the BBM has switching intake tracts.. so has to have a funky name hehe

intake manifolds are just pipes(intake runners) with a square or round bit(plenum chamber) that has the throttle body attached

im going to talk to joker about possibly seeing if he can build us somthing similar being he works in a power box making shop so has all the right materials and benders etc WOOT

I made one of those myself over the weekend also, its not too hard. If i can do it, i recon anyone can! Although i did have some pretty good instructions and a template from JC to go by! :P
If at the very least, it looks awesome. The aluminium feels like it does well to keep the heat out. I thrashed my car around for about half an hour, and the box was just warm to the touch.

i wonder if some fibreglass or some foam core type stuff will suffice to keep it cool in summer .. cold in winter

How about some pics? Did you paint yours? Zhodak painted his using that anodised blue stuff (about $50 worth), and it came out no better than painting it with normal metallic colour paint. If you paint it using VHT wrinkle finish, it would look almost factory.

It was a bit too late by the time we finished yesterday, so not much light. I will get some photo's this week if i get home early enough from work.
I don't know if I even want to paint it at all, it looks cool as is! I used a bit of this rippled aluminium I picked up from Bunnings. If I were to paint it, I would want to use some sort of heat deflecting pain to help keep it cool. Is that what the VHT does also?

supercheap auto's distribution center in qld has that
it cost $200k to paint the roof (about 2 football fields i think)

it reduced temps by about 3degrees or more..

goto a hobby store/art craft store and look for foamcore card board shell type stuff

its got cardboard type stuff on the outsides and high density foam inside (sort of built like gyprock)

$100 for piping $70 for the pod cause its a pretty good brand... worth the money makes a big difference.. and my cousin welded it up so yea..

IMO pod filters look crap! I mean sure they might give ya a bit more throttle response but is it actually worth having one compared to having normal CAI?

nice engine bAY, not a bad idea with the spray, whats even better is 50mm thick cool room panelling cut up put together to form a sealed box, i have got the material to do it but never have time to do it, it would work by far the best at keeping temp down, things being colder = bit more go but not nothing to jump up&down about.
