Default How do you enjoy your car ?

What is the attraction by people to their cars? if you have a high perfomance vehicle..do you get to enjoy the power? Is it the prestige of driving the latest greatest and fastest?

In my journey the attraction for me has been learning and improving something I set out to do.I like it when things work well. I like it that the car is more responsive.I like it that it is a little quicker. Its exciting...the drag strip is like a place where you have a few seconds of just giving your all for that moment. It is great..

What is the attraction to you of your car or the car scene and do you enjoy it fully?

It's a classic. Pulls good looks, and best of all, thumbs up (especially from the older crowd).

Soon it will be the power though :P

love big power and love the adrenalin out on the strip, especially taking off with big slicks under the back and not being able to see the track for the first 200ft, scares me every time . and being able to drive it every day and be comfortable

Intricate details on the car, rather than whitegoods or cars produced without passion.

Euro hatches have some element of detail and flair, just look at older Golfs, 205 Gtis and even old renaults.

My attraction is the COHESIVENESS of my machine, something that many large cars unfortunetly lack.
I'm also possessed with extracting maximum Horsepower out of the car without changing the factory tune / engine specs.

good question stav.

i love the sound of a v8, especially driving one.

i love driving down the princess hwy on the way home through tempe etc and seeing another ford nut and admiring their ride or getting the looks and approval from passer byers when im driving.

the car scene for 6/v8's (apart from the bogan ricer wannabe's in clapped out vn's etc) is totally different to the ricer scene, more refined, respectful of other peoples pride and joy, but i still respect the genuine ricers right to mod.

for example, i drive a ba xr8 but, your car stav, it may not be the prettiest girl at the dance, but she is damn fast and i fully respect that.

i love the car scene, i just think we need distance ourselves from the
d!#kheads, then the enthusiasts will be given the respect we deserve.

i'll stop now before i drool all over the computer

I couldnt have said it better dan!

I just love my car because in the way its the car ive always wanted but never thought id have, not so much the model but the fact its unique and its an individual, you dont have many au xr8's (many models at that) with all the gear mine has and im proud of that.

But overall its everything, the look, the comfortable and smooth ride, the v8 sound and straight up the power behind the pedal of it!

Previously owning basically a stock ea then eb then to a blown au xr8, its hard to put into words haha i guess its just nice to have people jaw drop when they see or hear it and the attention, yes i said it i love the attention :hihi:

cheers, chris.

Good point Dan.Even at meets in public we admire each others efforts and rides .The thing we really admire is the taste and personal qualities that each of us put into the cars .We are acknowledging the good looks, the bling, the power and passion of each enthusiast. It is like an extension of the person to a degree.
I started this thread so to really see what is the centre of the car enthusiasts adventure as it were.

Bought mine because driving a turbo car feels awesome and I can flog it around corners and it will stick to the road

Must admit though, that I'm not full hardcore into cars. I rarely go for a drive just for the sake of it. And even though I can afford mods, I can't be stuffed getting any :

For me it's the individuality of your car. The little things you do to personalise it and the buzz you get when a random stranger compliments you.
Stav, I've seen your car around town a couple of times, sounds quite nice!

I love driving something different, that I can personalise, and my favourite is being behind the wheel of an old classic. The chrome, smell of vinyl, the rumble of the exhaust.... oh, and the shape. Give's me a buzz, and helps me unwind from the stress of daily life, wether I'm cruising down the street, racing at the strip or on the track.

I am too young to be the original owner of a couple of my cars, so I get a buzz out of fixing it up and rectifying the previous
owner(s) handywork.

i enjoy my car for what it is. a povo pack ex company car that now with a little bit of money and many man hours, pulls like a train and sounds the goods.

enjoying my car is a circular thing. I enjoy modding it, and more often than not, those mods make me enjoy the car more. round and round it goes, with the exception of a few $$ here and there =)

That's if I buy a new car. Really would only go that way if I can't find what I want second hand.

Spent too much already keeping this thing on the road which I barely drive so thinking about just getting a house :

Love my FPV, needs new wheels tho.

When I drive the Mini, I love going around corners at speeds most others can only dream of. I am getting new tyres on the weekend - R Specs, so cornering will now become insane. It will be like a ride at the Royal Show :-)

I like the fact that I finally got to buy the car that i wanted - not because it was cheap to run, not because it would tow the boat, not because it would take the family in comfort and not because it was affordable.

I bought it because i wanted one!!!!!

And I love the sound it makes as the revs rise and the turbo whine changes pitch.........

i love the personalisation of cars...i love that out of all the blue au's i see around town none of them are like mine. i love that strangers give me a nod or come up to me to talk about her. i love the sounds, the shapes and fun times.

I love cruising, i love that feeling you get when you've finished a mongrel of a job. i love the friendships formed from having similar intrests to other people, but mostly- i love my car.

I reckon its a canvas.

Working on it, getting it up to scratch then more, first it sounds better, then it moves a tad faster, then its much more presentable and then the blower goes on. Then its a matter of starting over.

Working on the car knowing there will be an improvement is where I get my kicks from.

Like many previously I also love the sound of a V8. Love the low down torque while driving it around town. I also love the look people give when I pull up next to them in a plain looking BA XT but sounding like a V8 muscle car lol. Love my sleeper, just wish it was manual.

Don't get much of a chance to use any performance, too many chances of being done. Plus there is too much traffic nowadays to give it a little squirt safely.
