G'day guys have recently acquired a transmission from another meber of the forum(Gary) not sure of ur screen name mate sorry. but yer the time will be coming to put it in and i would not have the slightest idea of how to do it. So an idea is to put on a bbq day/ install day. umm not from memory. so you should be all good.
in the service kit you get a new trans sump gaskit.
so you should be all good

service kits can be purchased at any major auto shop.
just tell em its a ford and what model trans you have (ea or ea-el or etc)

Agreed!! Bring in the strippers so we can be entertained when we get bored working our asses off!!!

5th should be sweet dimi, so far i should be able to make it. I've got a socket set up to 23mm and spanners up to 19mm, I can also bring a jack if need be.

Dimi,
While you've got the box out it would be wise to put in a new rear main crank seal, if it hasn't recently been done. Old seals have a habit of starting to leak after a gearbox change, then it's pull the box all over again. Peace of mind only costs a few dollars extra.
Merry Xmas, hope all goes well.

You will find it's basically a metal ring. Just ask for a rear main seal for an EA and you should be fine.
