Default EL Predator

Has anybody heard of John Bowe and Larry Perkins building these cars. I heard a rumour that there were 4 built and were 2 door EL's??? Is this true? Can someone PM me if they know any details about these cars?

That is the precursor to the E-Gas Falcons, but is one of the only E-Gas cars that I would own, especially with the Powerdyne helping things along.

As far as I know, it is a show car, with <10,000 on the clock. Probably less than 1,000. Bowe and Perkins had nothing to do with it, it was a show special, by Tickford to demonstrate the potential of the I6.

More info Here.

Love the Predator. That colour is awesome.

btw There were no 2 door ELs. There were a couple of 2 door EA/EBs (The Sony Scorcher and it's twin) but that's all the 2 door e-series that I know of.

the EL predator was a joint project with CAPA or Vortech or sumthin like that- It was to showcase the potential of the second hand car market and the SOHC I6, which was then ruled by VR-VS bommadores...the now lives at the Ford Discovery Centre, you can go and see it anytime.

This is the E series ever known as "Predator" and as mentioned above it was an "official" show car. Still looks great today and you can see a lot of things in it that were found on later models - the seat trim looks like AU XR cloth trim. About the only thing Id change on it would be to put an EL XR kit on it, would look even better.

So tell me why someone has not put this to the RTA .

Think about this...
You can upgrade your car to factory spec.....

Get all the info on this car or one of the turbo factory ford cars and take that info to the RTA

Then get ya boosted car and take it in to rego it.

The old guy next door ... has a silver HR with a 350 in it ... been out of rego for the last 14 years ... took it for a road worthy a few weeks ago and got knocked back for having the Chev in it.... Went to Vic roads ... they said 2 Great things
1 . as it has been regoed before with the Chev in it then it is OK to have Chev in it now.
2 . as there where cars made from factory with same floor plan and/or firewall then having the Chev in it was OK .

Interesting loophole- I wonder if anyone who has fitted an XR6T mill into an XT (for example) has had to go through all the usual avenues, or simply did the above?

Simple- Pre emissions. Provided the chassis can handle it, they couldn't care less how much nasty stuff comes out the back. Although the HR never had a V8 from factory, did it? I thought it was provided the exact model had an 8 available from factory... not just the floorpan. Does that mean you wouldn't have too much of a problem stuffing a 5.0 into an EA?

How about a XF sedan with a 400ci clevo in it ... all passed by the police "hit squad" the other weekend.
about 3 years ago I knew of a EA on straight LPG that had a 302 clevo in it .... Went through about 3 - 4 different people before being sold to someone in Melbourne.

i mentioned it cause as trick_xd said this being a car released by ford it gives a loop hole in getting rego for a supercharged EL. Thats my interpretation of the law anyway?

I don't know if all states are the same as NSW but engine options are decided buy weight and emissoins where aplicable, also, engine swaps generally need the driveline and brakes upgraded to suit.

As for a 5.0 EA it should be ok if the engine is from a EB+ as the emissions pakage exceeds what was avilable in the EA run. But Brake's and what not need to be upgraded, say if its a EF XR8 motor, then its a good idea to run the upgaded brakes.

There is a EA with a 351 in it (and a genuine v8 supercar kit) running on gas, as gas brings the old clunker up to the emissions standard, and was fully regoed...

Also, if you own a, say, a ED XR8 you can install an aftermarket replacement block with not to much hassle, and given that you can buy 302 windsor based blocks that can be stretched to 400ci + you could still do it, given that the block is still a '302'.

thats IIRC...

No, because the car was not offered for sale, and most likely was never tested for ADR's...

You're thinking of Roman as in Roman Autotek, they held the momo / recaro products for a long time and through their association with the Hillier brothers, created a few nice Falcons. They only supplied seats for the Predator. Only 1 was made, next project was the ELXR8 known as the Sequential, after that they did a run of 2door AUs and the gullwing ute.

Thats correct. This car doesnt provide you with a loophole for anything - it was built as a concept car, was never rego'd or put over the pits, so you cant go in and say "oh but what about........" because as far as the RTA/Vicroads are concerned, this car doesnt exist.

If I had all the info on the turbo EAs then I would have a go at fighting it .

as some part of the rule says if there is a car that has complyed then you have to do the same thing
