Hi all -
I've got an AU1 Fairmont Ghia V8 - has a noticeable noise that seems to come from the the rrear end - very noticeable at low speeds - been the same for 12 months or more - noise now seems to be getting more pronounced. Just completed a trip to Perth and back, no problems. (Had to put another new radiator in - standard industry warranty is 3 to 5 years - Ford warranty 12 months!!!) Anyone had a similar noise? Have spent hours under the car and cannot find the noise. |

sometimes a noise such as this can be associated with worn universal joint or centre bearing issues on 2 piece shafts. might be worth a check as its something simple and cost F@*% all. Take it to someone and get it up on a hoist in gear running. If the noise increases with speed it has to be drivetrain or wheel related.

My car did that for a few weeks and then it went away by itself one day. I had the car raised and in gear and it wouldn't do it. Put it back on the road and it did, so I never got to the bottom of it. All tyres checked for screws / rocks and they were fine.

check your rear brake pads aren't moving in the caliper, as my car was making a noticably loud clickin-ticking noise until i glued the bastards in which fixed the noise.
