Default Prices of E series going up???

Has anybody noticed the e series appreciating instead of depreciating?

I've seen EL Fairmont Ghia's closer to 8k than the 5-6k they were a few months back.

Also seen a few EB II- ED's with average wheels and clear indicators advertised for 4k.

Same with T5 conversions they were $600-700 now everyone seems to think they're magically worth $1000+ (Yes I'm talking complete kits maybe without a pedal box).

What is wrong with people? My transmissions been dying a slow death and I might just keep letting it do that. Eventually I'll have no choice but I'm seriously contemplating throwing another auto in.

Worst thing is people are actually paying these prices.

Rant over.

i haven't noticed e series prices going up, still down from what i've seen, unless its a very very nice neat vehicle, at which people will still pay for, and a lot of people really like certain E series's, and if buying a nice sporty looking falcon will opt for them

The EF/L XR6's are as high as always (Yes they're nice but I'll get a BA Fairmont Ghia for an extra 2k thank you very much).

I'm more talking the common EF/EL fairmont ghia they just seem to keep going up and they're all close to 230 000/270 000k's. Of course the other 1/2 are asking realistic prices and some even as low as $3500 for an ok EL ghia, but I haven't seen one in ages, all the ones lately are 7-8k. See many cars in the 300 000's asking high prices.
It's mainly the ones that are lowered, $400 17's and minor cosmetic mods that seem to think they're worth the price of 2 EL ghia's. I just took a look at ebay and the ghia's actually look well priced (haven't seen them like this for ages).
Although I have an even better link :http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FORD-FALCON-E...QQcmdZViewItem

I guess the EF falcons are now going up.

I actually saw a V8 tickford and transmission with 470 000k's on here price $2000, well looked after but god, you could by 2 engines/transmissions with more than 1/2 the k's each on them at that price.

Guess the alcohol tax is turning people to mind altering drugs.

I find it hard to believe that prices have gone up, but a clean car will often get high bids on ebay - doesn't mean the sale gets completed though, as I've found on many an occasion. Having said that, ebay is full of people who will pay stupid prices for things.

As for what they're worth, would I pay near on 5k for an EF Futura/Gli on gas(as per your ebay link)? Hell no, but did I sell mine a year ago for a fair bit more than that? Yes!

It's easy to take the prices that dreamers are asking as gospel, but remember, they're only the asking price. Have a look on carsales, at look at the amount of old ads with ridiculous prices - these cars never move until the owner comes back to reality.

You should see what some people pay for damaged EF/ELs at auctions.

Have seen an EL GLi (petrol-only) with front damage go for $1200. What the hell?

I picked up an EL Fairmont on LPG for $1900 with 12 months rego. I have noticed some higher (than it's worth) prices on various E Series over the last few months, but if people are willing to pay that then the joke is on them really.

No they're NOT going up... people are just asking more for them because they're trying to get as much as they can. The ones that have 6-7-8k on them stay on tradingpost and whatever for months before either the owner gives up or some schmuck pays that much...

I'm selling my EL GLi with no damage whatsoever (in fact it has a new rear bar thx to some chick who ran up my butt) for $1500 - I could ask more but its unlikely anyone will pay it since there's a few non-major mechanical things that need doing (and I'm not prepared to plow the money into it to get it to safety-cert spec). Its only done ~208,000, trans still works fine, diff not noisy, plenty of tread left (tho the left tyre outside edge is a bit worn), engine still runs beautifully basically it still drives fine. Going to sell it to my cousin cause he needs a car and I need to pay for stuff

If you mean the T5 that comes out of a Falcon, then yes I'd believe that but the T5 box in general isn't exactly 'rare' as such - they're used in all sorts of cars, you wouldn't have trouble getting a regular T5 but then you'd have to get a bell housing, etc to fit a Falcon. But it can be done.

I have noticed the same thing with the manual conversions, A couple of years ago i wasnt gonna pay $600 for a full one because it was dear then.
But now i would for sure, As for them being worth $1000+ i dont think so, a V8 rebuilt one maybe, but not for a 6.

if you find a v8 manual conversion it would be 1500 min, mal wood do them with a reco box for 4k so you would be VERY hard pressed to find them REBUILT for 1000.

A bit off topic.

What's the lifespan like on the T5's? Not only are the prices going up but so are the k's (many close to 300 000).

Ok so the price of e-series is on the rise. What's this worth ? 88' 'S' 5 speed, Brand new tyres, No reg, No R.W.C. The only difference to pics is the front end now has standard height springs fitted and the car is alot neater overall. Only 155,000 km's. Make me an offer if you want, you never know your luck. All offers considered.

No reg no RWC.

$1000 if you're lucky. But if you wanna be like everyone else ask $1500.

Don't know of the price rise "is official". It's just people asking stupid prices, but a fair few are selling so does that mean they are going up?

Prices are not going up at all people are just trying to sell a car for what they think its worth not what its actually worth. Unless your car is a GT its only going to depreciate in value

Everyone is updating to BA/BF now and I find it hard to believe that an eseries car would go up in value when everyone wants to get out of them. What are you thinking when you say they are going up lol

E Series' were generally worth more than the AU in the few years that followed it's poorly received release in 1998.

That's one thing I noticed back then.

I find it hard to believe that there are still people who insist on taking their time to browse in our club area and then dribble nonsense about why they don't have one of our model specific vehicles any more or post just to get a bite. Should it be the case that you believe our model specific vehicles are 'crap' and/or our threads are pointless I would guide you to other parts of the forums where you may find more interesting topics to amuse yourselves. Take that option or removal from this area permanently will be the result.

Consider this your warning.

Enjoy your depreciation Marcus :P

I don't need to worry about that because the EA's pretty much finished depreciating. It's already worth nothing :P

The way I look at it is.. fork out say 10000 for a BA or something new,
3 years time its worth say 5000 so.

Better off to put that 5000 into something that cant depreciate any more and have something a bit different and stand out a bit. your going to loose that money any way...

exactly, i could have gotten a AU or even a BA with how much ive put into the ED now, but it would look basic, and i wouldn't be happy with it. id rather a car that is mine and stands out from the crowd, i dont owe any money on it, no bank loans etc and i got a car that i love.

are the price's going up, i doubt it maybe for REALLY clean examples, i think they will soon be harder to come buy much like XE's etc as people buy them for cheep destory it and buy another car for all.

i think prices will stay about level for the right EA-ED

Just sold our EF gli for 3,200, Our advertised price was 3900 Rego and Roadworthy'd. Our bottom price was 3500...but these people only had 3200 and were skipping bills to gather it all together...hmm sometimes you just need to be compasionate.

Are you even in the market for an E-series Falcon?

If not, this is irrelevant.

If you are, I've noticed that EF/EL XR's (good one's) have been hanging around the $10k mark for a very long time and at that price, they are most definately worth it.
I, personally, would take a EF/EL XR6 @ $10k over a BA XT/Futura/ in the same condition at the same price. But that's just me...and that's because I had a gorgeous EF XR6 manual that I still miss to bits and would have only ever traded it on a BA/BF XR8 or XR6T (which I did )
