this is probably a small problem but it annoyed the crap outa me!
if you dont know it simply call your local ford dealership and ask about radio codes, they will transfer your call and they will ask you your VIN number and the name the car is registered and they will tell you. i know it would have been usefull knowing this instead of reading the whole manual to my car : |

Pull out the blanking plate where the fuel/boot release buttons normally are (ute has a blank plate cos it doesnt have them obviously) Use a long screwdriver or similar to get behind the cluster and gently prise it out from the dash, check that the clear plastic fascia does not get caught on the dash, if it does just wiggle it out The cluster should come out enough for you to reach the 2 wiring looms that go into the back of it. They are different sizes so you wont stuff them up when you put them back in. Cluster should now come out as a whole unit. To pull it apart (i.e. to change the background etc) use a small flat blade screwdriver to take the front plate off the back of the unit (easier to understand when you're looking at it). Be careful because the clips can be fragile and break easy. If you do take it all apart Id recommend putting some electrical tape all around it when you put it back together to keep dust etc from getting inside it.

Is there a wiring diagram for the AU, as I bought a push button starter kit and I need to know how to install it into my car via the ignition barrel and the 12v power system.

I think so, if the seats are powered you would have to power them up. Not sure the the wires are already there. Bolt wise they are the same\

Cheers UK
I actually did this back in March. Got a seat of Millenium Leather seats from a Fairmont AU. The cable loom for the power seats was there already so it was just plug n play. Had some minor issue with the rear seat brackets being a different size to the XR. I had my local trimmer just swap the foam over.

Is there a "How To" for replacing a Harmonic Balancer at all?

You will need a puller that grabs the balancer from the inner frame so to speak. GG technics make one but they are pricey.
If you have an air gun you can take out the crank bolt easily, but usually most guns wont fit unless you take out the radiator. By the way, electro fans and accessories belt needs to be out. I am assuming that there are how to's elsewhere for these, but sing out if you need help. I find it quicker by hand. Underneath the inspection plate for the torque converter is a hole where you can access the ring gear. You can jam this up with a large screwdriver with one hand and using a breaker bar, you can crack the bolt. 22mm bolt. When pulling the balancer out, it will slide over the bolt, but not the washer. Take the washer out and put the bolt back in for the puller to press up against and you can get the balancer out. Change your crank seal if it is leaking. Silicone on the keyway of the crank, fit the new balancer and use the bolt and washer to press back in. 125nm is the torque spec and yes you will need to jam up the ring gear when torqueing the balancer bolt. |
