I lost count how many designs were "borrowed" from other makes.

I had this mental picture of a chinese car looking real cheap and plastic but it seems not to be the case.

I like the MG one at the top.

The rest......I hope they don't export here.

No different to the Indians.

Doesn't matter, the Chinese want European and japanese cars anyway.

Thanks for the pics barbarian, I only got back from China Tuesday and was annoyed I didn't have enough time to visit the Shanghi motor show....
Some of those Chinese cars/SUV's look far better than expected.

Well they havent blatantly reverse engineered other makes' cars to make an exact copy and call it their own for a start! Go check out YouTube for the Landwind crash tests, it's horrifying

Chinese carmakers are almost in some sort of race or corporate ****fest over who can produce the most blatant copy.

Oh dear! Some of those cars look identical.... I bet you that Geely GE would cost 1/10 of what a Rolls/Bentley would cost..

You can't blame them though, their entire market/industry is built on cheap knock offs and i suppose the next thing to make money would be to look at the automotive industry.... why would it be any different?

The Chinese have been cracking down on this of recent times.

But how do we know they haven't bought platforms from other companies.

Seriously, can't they design their own cars. I just wrote down all the cars I recognized and I got Toyota Hilux, Toyota Rav 4, Honda Accord Euro, Toyota Tarago, Mazda 3, Smart ForTwo, Mazda 2, Dodge Avenger, Mercedes S-Class, Fiat Panda, Toyota LandCruiser, and a pretty terrible looking Rolls Royce Phantom (its even got a spirit of ecstasy on the bonnet!).

Sad, BUT, the way the car market is going in western countries around the world, Most manufacturers will be looking to China to make their cars

The Japs were laughed at in the 60's, and copied other cars to get going, but now stand alone from other makes

Most likely the ONLY place on the planet were the cars market is going great!!

sad, but true

The Geely GE looks VERY similar to a Rolls Royce Phantom...

annoyed that the vast majority of design cues are unashamedly stolen, but sad that eventually they'll take over. as the western designers go broke who does the next lot of development get stolen from?
