Vic Pol has 1 x XRT (white), 1 x XR6T (ego) 1 x XR8 (white) and 1 x Marked XR6T that ive seen. Crap thing is they all have standard XR6 17" rims which look aweful.

I first saw one of the red fully marked highway patrol cars (presuming that's what you're talking about) about 5 months ago up here on the Sunshine Coast. I see them up here fairly often and the officers that drive them certainly don't mind giving them some.

Bunbury (WA) has 1 maybe 2 FG XR6T for highway patrol cars. And I spotted a couple of marked FGs parked in the Fremantle police station

I think there it is function over form, 18 inch wheels don't like the curb hopping as much as the 17s do.

Funnily enough, I have seen a handful of BFII XT cop cars (look like ordinary general duties cars) but instead of steelies, they have what looks like the alloys off the BFII Ghia. Now that is a wierd one

Cheaper to replace tyres too, I think thats one of the reasons they fit the 17's.

You'd think they would go through at least 1-2 sets of tyres during the cars police life, so across the board it would be a decent cost saving.

There are quite a few VicRoads incident response vehicles as FG XR6 Turbos. They have highly decorated exteriors and red emergency lights and respond to road accidents. I've seen them along the Eastern Freeway a few times.

I've only seen one or two VicPolice cars as FG XRs though.

Over on the Eastern Seaboard you never know what the cops are going to be in. Apparently the local Highway Patrol has taken delivery of several unmarked vehicles. From comments from some of the locals the two best revenue earners are a blond female driving a lime green XR6 ute and a Focus turbo XR5 that does a good job keeping the hoons under control.

I have even heard that up on the NSW north coast they have a Kombie with WRX running gear that does a roaring trade (maybe more fiction than fact but I have heard about it from several sources)

Again echoing what WA people have already said, there are heaps of FG cop cars over here. Mainly XR6T's I have seen, especially in HWP guise. And yes, they have the poxy 17in rim on them.

Seen a few FGs in plain GD guise and even the Federal Police have them as candy cars.

In fact I saw an FG ute paddy wagon the other day (WAPOL have a pre-fab module they just bolt onto the tray of Falcon utes).

WA has quite a few unmarked XR6T's as well as the Marked silver HWP XR6T's and there are heaps of Utes getting changed over from BF's at the moment. There is quite a few at the auto electricians near my place getting light bars wired up and if you want to see what else is coming onto the fleet go have a look at the old police academy at Maylands they store all the new vehicles that havent gone onto fleet yet there in the yard.
