Has anyone looked into the possibility of importing a 2009 RS Focus into Australia? Do you have to own the car in the UK for 12 months for a private import?

Some have imported their own Nissan GTR so they must have fallen under a different Grey import law ruling.

Yes, if you own one (and live) in the UK for 12months, then move back here, you can bring one in I understand. Would have to do a couple of things to make it compliant, but can be done.
If I was rich, young, and single (and I'm none of those) I'd go to the UK for 12 months and work, just so I could bring one back!!

and i looked into the laws about importing cars. you have to own it for 12months in the uk unless you get a licenced importer to import the car

pretty sure to import one like what they have done with the skylines the local manufacturer must not offer that model here already
i.e. nissan didn't have a skyline in their model range so people could bring them in - until nissan starts to offer them, then it is no longer possible until they become a grey import (i.e. 10 years or more.. or is it 15?) so i'd imagine becuase ford offer a focus here already it would not be possible unless you do it as a private import. |

zyweik, i think you're spot on there. But there's bound to be a way around it, you just need deep pockets to make it happen.
They are FAR more than an XR5 with a different body kit. I can't be bothered going into the details as its been done here before (and on the xr5 forums too, and i know you are a member over there abdulwahed88.) btw steve, you mustn't be much of a morning person. your last err.... 4 posts were riddled with spite. :
