So I went and had a look at an ED Fairmont Ghia that was for sale near where I've been staying whilst working in Perth.
I must say I was taken aback at how pristine it was, it had premo sound, optional bodykit and only 96,000kms. Asking price was $5000. I have also got a guy at work offering to buy my UTE off me for $7500. I'm split 50/50 on this one, the only variable is the ED could have been sold over the weekend. So I put it to the brains trust of FordForums! Nice straight low km ED Ghia or V8 AU ute??

I'd keep the ute in all honesty.
A 16 year old Car will be harder to ensure for the price ou will buy it at, the only upside is the cheaper parts...

V8 ute all the way. The older ed, while a good find, is not the same as the newer AU in terms of power, interior etc. It's a personal choice but for 5k, it's a bit overpriced, even though it's in vgc, it's just an ED, over the au it's not worth it.

i also would say the ute for sure
ed ghia yes very nice for the era but it doesn't add up to the better ride and of course the power of the v8 so keep the bloody ute $5G for an ed is pushing the top end of what you would get for an ef these days Jason

You shouldn't go back to an Eseries unless its a GT or Sprint. AU is years ahead.

I love the box car e series, but really man, $5000? I wouldnt really care how good it is.
I bought my pristine DC LTD for $1300, there are bargains aplenty for E series. Keep the ute, or sell it to your mate and go buy some other nice e series for half the price and pocket the rest of the coin. |
