Well guys and gals, the AU2 is being traded in next week - for an SSV Sportwagon. Yes, a Holden.
Extremely happy as the Sportwagon offers all the space and grunt I could ever need, and it's a shame Ford did not see fit to continue develop their Falcon wagon range, but hey, what can you do. I got $5k for the Ford too, which I'm happy about. I'll be checking into here to keep an eye on proceedings, as the whole Ford scene still very much interests me ! Cheers guys, Andy B.

Farewell old mate, i'm sure you'll enjoy the sportwagon immensely, they are a great vehicle, one of the best on the road today.
Don't blame you for getting rid of the AU2, they're getting pretty long in the tooth!

I couldn't have sold it to you GK - the list of things needing fixing finally outweighed the sense in getting it roadworthied.... it needed around $1.5k in parts to maybe only get $6-7k private sale, so trading for around $5k wasn't too raw a deal in my opinion.
In the last 6 months, a front wheel bearing started to drone, the steering rack started leaking as well as the rear main seal, VCT solenoid, gearbox somewhere, power steering pump, oil leak around the head, the 6-CD stacker packed up, the electric window switches wouldn't work in the back (even after cleaning) and my wife was driving it anyway, and she hated the relatively poor visibility and the sheer size of it ! Plus she always thought of it as a Grandpa car !! Drove an FG XR6 Turbo, and boy, did it shift !! If I didn't have two kiddies and go on regular trips away, it would have been my choice hands down. A great car to drive it was. Anyway, thanks for all the advise and good to meet the few members down at Port Melbourne that afternoon; GK, Superroo, Whoosha, Dan (!) and no doubt I'l post up some pics of the new V8 sometime next week !! Nice choice - one of the bosses at work has the SS wagon with AFM, FWTW!!! and i have driven it a few times - visibility out the back is pretty poor, but it goes like a cut snake, so you don't ever really need to look behind anyway. As Peuty said "I'd have one".

Nice buy mate.
Not giving you crap as I quite like the sportwagons. But just out of curiosity, what did the sportwagon offer that the territory turbo doesn't? Does it have significantly more loading space or you just didn't like the terri?

Height and bulk could also be another reason. I for one really like the SS wagons size and stature. The Terri while nice for some, just isnt something Id get for my lifestyle.
Either the SS wagon or a Liberty GT

Territory was a no-go as it's too old, and I hear too many horror stories about them... and also the whole SUV thing doesn't do it for me yet. Maybe when I'm older !!
I have an '07 Liberty which I'm keeping for the wife, and thought about upgrading to the new model for me... but couldn't afford a quick one and have you seen them ? Totally boring and ugly styling in my opinion, especially when compared to my shape model ! Anyway, will put up some pics of the new ride once I pick it up ! Cheers

There's a red with black stripes comes into work (well, the owner does) and with dark tinted windows (the wagon not the owner) looks a million bucks. |

Well, interesting you say that... my car is an 09.5 model year, built around Feb '09. It is not badged AFM, but all that the ECU requires to get it running is a simple 'flash' in the workshop, and voila: AFM (without the badges)
All hardware and electronics were fitted but not activated on all LS3 engines from around Feb'09, with the AFM commencing activation around July, I believe. The Holden main dealer I am purchasing the car from is activating it for me, prior to collection this week !
