Default AUII Hesitant 2.5-3000 RPM+

Symptoms:

Its pretty much got no power, doesn't rev out past 3000.

It has an odd noise that may be interpreted as 'missing' when it gets to that RPM. sort of a 'puff puff'

M first thoughts were plugs, but they are less than 6 months old.

Is this common, would it be leads, fuel filter anything like that?

Cheers

is it a 6?

Yeah it's a 6. To be honest, the exhaust is in pretty average condition so it may well be that. Cheers. What sort of symptoms sis your car have kr1sto?

Any second opinions?

If it was me I would start with fuel filter.
Wouldn't hurt to change it anyway if it's been a while.

i noticed it lackig in power for a while, then one day it wouldn't rev past 3000rpm...
took me about 3 days to figure it out... checked and changed absolutely everything to do with fuel and ignition..
i finally cracked it and got under the car to have a look..
i hit the cat with a hammer and it rattled like buggery..

dropped the exhaust of at the flange at the manifold and took it for a spin around the block..
Found the problem.!!!
Changed the cat and its all good now..

hope that helps bud..!

Thinking out loud here:

Why would it be the fuel filter? If it's that then shouldn't the problem exist not only in the higher rev ranges but an issue at idling and/or 2k RPM?

Maybe its because there is more fuel passing through at those RPM but im still doubtful.

So you changed plugs and leads? Well that seems most plausible at this stage..

i changed air filter, fuel filter, leads, plugs, coil pack.
even changed TPS.. still nothing..

i'd really be suprised if it wasn't your catalytic convertor mate..

get under and drop the exhaust off from the flange on the manifold..
can't hurt to try..

A blocked fuel filter will idle ok but take the car on a hill and push the accelerator and the car looses power.

I had my old EB with a blocked fuel filter it idled OK but lost power when going up hills or when I put my foot down.

Exactly what he said. It may very well be the cat but the fuel filter
is the cheaper option so common sence says start there.
You'd kick yaself fair up the a$$ if ya spent $200 on a cat only to
find out it was just the filter.
