Default focus coils dodgy?

My mum has a LT focus she bought last year as a run-out and it's just been in to a dealer because a coil went (engine light on and running extremely badly). She does very low k's and the car has dead on 6000km. She also drives it like a grandma 'cause she is one.

Just curious if this is common problem others might have experienced? It's annoying because the car is such low k's and it only had a dealership service at 5000km.

It will probably be the last new car she buys and it's disheartening. When the car was delivered new it also didn't have the aerial connection for AM on the stereo connected (Important feature for her) and was back to the dealer on day 2 of ownership. Was fixed promptly and not a major thing but highly disappointing in a brand new car.

Classic! I really enjoyed that one.

I cannot recall anyone posting on here about a dodgy coil. You might like to check the LS Fault Register section (also relevant to LT/LV models).
