Default Identifying A Person

Just had a funny thought.. technically if a person's name was John Mark Fraser Smith and their ID was under John M Smith, would there be problems reconciling the two names? Not in a court of law or anything, just casual identification.

No generally in each jurisdiction you can call yourself anything you like, so long as you can also be legally identified.

Calling yourself by a name that differs from your legal name is an alias.

If your lawful name annoys you enough, you can apply to change it by deed-pole.

While the basic Ford Six was code named Barra, the Turbo version clearly deserved its very own moniker – again enter Gordon Barfield.
We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about.
“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.
