Legality of aftermarket pedals

Hi all - just wondering if anyone could advise me of both the legality of these pedals, plus any experience with them.

They look to be a genuine item, but I thought "clip on" type pedals which these appear to be by the description (no drilling etc) weren't legal - but then again, these also appear to be a Genuine Ford part.

Also any experience with them, quality etc, much appreciated, as I'm strongly considering a set at the moment to give the Zetec a bit more of a "sporty" look inside!

As long as they a non slip rubber grip on them you should be right Rik, legalities refer to the grip of the pedal.

I bought these and I can say I'm not really happy with them. They were not the easiest to fit right and have already come off on several occasions. I'm going to go through the dealer for better pair soon as these just don't cut the mustard.

Rik, I put these in, and they're great. Had to use some long nose multigrips, and a piece of vinyl (for protection) to 'really' bend those tabs over, and then again after fitment.

They're solid as, and these particular ones are the same shape rubber as the normal Focus pad, all be it with the rubber studs coming thru. I'm very happy.

The pedals I purcahsed through Ford look identical to the ones you've got. If ford are selling them then I'm confident they are legal. Yes they are a VERY tight fit and difficult to install but once installed correctly, they will not come off without a deliberate force.

SM2303: If you really do have those same pedals and they are comming off, then I question if they have been installed correctly.

Thanks guys, a couple of positive feedback notes there.

So I've just clicked the "Buy Now" button, on my way through the payment checkout. Hopefully all will go fairly easily with the install!

These arrived today, having a bit of trouble getting the rubber bits to stick through the holes and line up 100% on the accelerator, also the brake one doesn't have much room to fold the tab on the top back down under due to the "stalk" of the pedal being in the way - but I'm working it out!

They are a good purchase, but are a complete *&%$ to get on. Mine have been on for years and I didn't even peel the backing from the double sided tape.

The metal on mine are starting to show wear marks from my shoes in certain areas but nothing too serious.

P.S. With the brake I bent the tab upwards and then painted it black

Not a bad idea.

They're still not on yet, thought they were going to be a quick and easy mod, how wrong I was! Might give it another shot this afternoon.

have a a try at installing the alloy handbrake covers. just simlpy slide the old ones off and slide the new ones on. easy. (A Jackhammer may be required)

OK, this might be a silly question, but can I still use these without the little "tab" bits that fold back around the pedals?

I've just busted each and every one of the buggery things, they didn't like to be folded all out to try get the rubber in without them fouling up and then folded back again.

Typical bloody crap quality ford shyte.

I installed this into my Zetec on Monday...the instructions said you needed the following tools...

Hammer, Screwdriver, Block of Wood and a Knife!

The bloody original black one diddnt budge...after a while i cut through the entire length of the old one and got it off using a screwdriver and a mallet...managed to get the new one on without needing the block of wood to hammer it in place...typical 5 minute job ended up taking 45 minutes

Most definitely, the holes in the pedals are that tight on the rubber circles that they grip. I didn't see a purpose for those stupid tabs.
