hazard fuse

Hi guys, new here - new to AU's too.

My just purchased AUII Fairmont blows the hazard fuse every time hazards are set on. Need to get this fixed so I can get a RWC.

I assume there's a question in there somewhere?
This isn't a common fault - you may need to see an auto elec.

I guess I will have to see a leccy, just thought someone may have had a similar problem/ solution.

I assume the fuse doesn't blow when you use the indicators, so.......can't be wiring for the actual indicators which means it must be something unique to the hazards, which leaves either the switch or the flasher unit, or at worst the wiring to the hazard fuse itself. Hope that helps. I'd start with the easiest and work from there ie take switch apart and connect a different switch, or even just touch the switch wires together, to see if it blows with the switch out of the equation - if it does, then it's not the switch. I'd then be looking at the back of the fuse panel to see if there are any obvious wires touching, and if not, then replace the flasher unit (they are a digital flasher, I believe, and supercheap, repco etc have them for around $30 or so).

Good luck with it - if you can't do any of this yourself, a sparky shouldn't charge more than around an hour to sort this (maybe 2, unless it's a huge problem!).

I had a look at the wiring diagrams here on fordforums and saw that it could really only be the switch. So I replaced the fuse and was about to do some faultfinding, but so far the fuse hasn't blown. I guess I'll just leave it be until (if) the fuse blows again.
