Default Good Ford dealer in Melbourne?

Hi all,

Wondering if you could help me out.... I have just moved to Melbourne and need to find myself a new local Ford dealer. My car is almost due for a service.

Interested to hear your thoughts!

Paul

From my experience Etheridge Ford in Ringwood is good.
Sterling Ford in Bundoora is also good.
Bayford (the Epping department) was good the last time I used them a couple of months ago.

Binks Ford in Deer Park? I have heard some time ago they were ok, unsure how they are atm, as it seems that service managers etc. at dealers tend to change frequently.

I'm in West Footscray and use Binks in West Footscray. They've been good. Close to buses and I think they will run you to Footscray station.

Essendon Ford is good, fairly new dealership in amongst Essendon Fields, built in the last 3 or 4 years, used to be "Duhig Ford" in Keilor road.

+1 to Sterling Ford.

Been there twice for warranty work on the BFII Egas sedan (06 build) while it was under warranty. My car is now has now covered 103xxxkm.

* Diff whine at 65000km (and yes I tried changing the diff oil, but to no avail). Sterling rebuilt the diff, and haven’t had issue since.
* LPG cut-off valve functioning incorrectly. Again Sterling fixed it without any hassles.

I also had to use sterling in bundoora for a warranty claim on my G6ET, and not being my usual dealer, they were prompt to fix the issue too.

I oftern use yarran ranges ford, as my uncle works there. He does all the work on my car, and i get great service, but cant comment from a "non family" customer.

I've bought my last two Fords from Etheridge and if they were closer, they would get the services too.

But if you're out West, something in the City or Binks will sort you.

Since starting this thread 2 years ago I have been frequenting Essendon Ford. Both for my XR50T and my fiance's Fiesta Metal.

Really rate both their sales and service divisions. If your looking to buy a new one - talk to Matt - top bloke....

Avoid, I've had over 50 cars covering most makes and these turkeys are the worst. Both from a purchase and service aspect.
I'm a pretty understanding guy when it comes to things going wrong and believe in giving the opportunity to make things right but they are the only car dealership I feel strong enough about to give a bad wrap.

Bayford Epping have looked after me for the last 3 new Fords (Ranger and 2 XRs)

Ive had a couple of negative reviews from contacts regarding Westpoint too unfortunately.

I know you're out west. But for what it's worth, I purchased from, and get mine looked after by Knox Ford in Ferntree Gully. The service manager there is good. He gets busy and can sometimes take a while to return your call. But, when he does, he listens to you and ensures that you are looked after.

Cant really fault them at this stage.

Etheridge and City Ford are also two that I have heard nothing but positive things about.

Avoid westpoint, our previous car last year was serviced there twice and both times they damaged it, first time they fixed it second time we couldn't prove they scratched it (even though we know it was them)

I'm trying deer park ford next month, will see how they go

Strangely Westpoint Ford have been reasonably responsive but maybe my problems have been been pretty obviously warranty issues.

My biggest complaint though is that they really lack any skills at letting you know when your car's finished.

Only problem I have had with westpoint was condition of car on last service, dirty with grease marks in which I went straight to the top....They have been told they are on notice for the next service otherwise I walk.

Oddly enough this is the 1st incident with them after using them for 10 years with 4 different cars.

Realistically I suppose all dealers can have horror stories to be told.

Any votes for Bayford Coburg, I have been dealing with them and one particular salesman thus far that has been excellent, it's such a pleasure to deal with someone that actually seems to have your best interests at hand.

Why would you take your vehicle to a dealer when you can get stamped servicing done by independents for less money and dare I say a better job by generally better qualified technicians. Most dealers seem to charge well in excess of $100/hr.independents &70-$80hr

I'm not keen about getting a service done by a dealer but unfortunately they're the only ones who do warranty work.

I'm more than happy to recommend Lees Auto Repairs in Hoppers Crossing for repairs and servicing but as I said an independent can't do warranty work.

So I for one am interested in hearing about good dealers so I'll know where the best dealers are if I need warranty work.

There's a thread here somewhere about upgrading the satnav maps on big mk2s: it contains horror stories about dealers not having any idea about how its done and others having cars for a day or more and not being able to do the upgrade. Then there are a few dealers who can and do perform the upgrade in a couple of hours. If I was going to have dealer upgrade my satnav I'm only going to one that some others here have said they can do it.

It's also good to have someone recommended a dealer that you can buy a car from as well.
I personally wouldn't deal with Strap Ford to buy a new car as at least one salesman and their new car manager are lying sons of........

I live out West too (further out than the OP though) and would thoroughly recommend Bayford Coburg - both my last 2 cars are from them and the service was much better than all the other deallers I could have gone to that are closer to home (ie Binks, Westpoint etc)

I go to Etheridge Ford in Ringwood and they have been pretty good to me.
I have also heard City Ford aren't too bad either.
