Has anyone been to oktoberfest in Munich? I'm thinking of going tomorrow.

Oktoberfest has been on my bucket list for a few years, definitely want to hit it up in the next 5 years! If you're in Munich already then you shouldn't even have to ask! German women, beer and schnitzels, what more do you want!

Haven't been to the fairgrounds myself, but ended up in the Hofbrau beer hall on one day of the Oktoberfest back in 2005. That was fun!
If you can't get in to the fairgrounds then just head over to the different beer halls around the town.

If you're there then go! What are you waiting for???

Been in the Hofbrau Haus several times, I recommend you don't go on your own (always more fun in a group) and you can always get a table with a group.

Make sure you check out the mens toilets on the ground floor, there is an enormus spew-bucket made out of Stainless Steel with grab-handles on the side so you can really heave it out!

Stuttgart is closer for us & we go every year to the Cannstatter Wasen (thier version of Oktoberfest) and TBH once you are inside a beer tent in September it doesn't make much difference if you are in München, Stuttgart, Nürnberg or wherever they are all good fun.

To be in Munich in September and not go to a beer hall you'd be mad.

You can buy them there cheap enough anyway, in fact, the backpackers I stayed in when I went in '05 were dishing them out to guests as they checked out of the hostel.

I went about 8 years ago and it was amazing. The Hofbrahaus and Lowenbrau tents are absolutely massive. Such a fun carnival atmosphere and we met people from all over the world each and every night!

Totally recommend it!

I was there in 2010 for 5 days while on VanTour. It was incredible, amazing time drinking and partying with everyone from around the world.

Nothing like drinking 8-9 litres a day for a working week, straight up good times.

The best beer halls are the ones the locals go to, the smaller ones off the main drag.

Munich is beautiful, one of my fav cities from traveling Europe - didn't get there for Oktoberfest but :*(
Busabout still have camping spaces for their 5 day Oktoberfest camp out - its like $250 for the time, you also get a day trip of Munich and taken to Neuschwanstein Castle and Swan Lake. busabout get their own tables in one of the big beer tents in the fair grounds - can't remember which one but

(if you wanna book let me know I work at STA Travel atm)
