Default is a tremec 5spd a t5?

i always assumed that the 5spd in my au was a t5, but my mate reckons there is a difference between a tremec and a t5

Tremec's a manufacturer. T5 is a design of gearbox.

In the AU's they're made by Borg Warner with the exception of the Tremec TR3650 found exclusively in the T3's.

Tremec do make a T5 but why you'd bother pulling out the BW to replace it with the Tremec version I don't know - not much benefit if any.

b2tf is half way right...............Yes your AU T5 is Tremec buit and will be stamped on the side of the box.

Craig is right, only earlier T5's were made by BW.
