Default EOI: AU Quarterly Award

Hello fellow AUvians.

I have been thinking of this for some time now and are keen to seek other forum members thoughts on recognising some of the efforts some members go to not only to improve their own cars, but also how they contribute to our AU area of the forums?

I am thinking that this could be ran similar to the 'Projects' section 'Car of the Month / Car of the Year' awards. Each quarter, a list of nominees can be put into a polling thread and taken from there.

At this stage, I have no prizes or awards, but I am sure that may change down the track.

Thoughts members?

Cheers
Stu

I think it's a great idea.
Is there enough cars/contributors to have it each month..? Then a yearly winner like PCOTM..?

Not sure Kris. That is why I thought quarterly? There is also the factor of time to administer. Monthly may become a little demanding.

I reckon once a month, just have an AU workshop thread stickied/starred as AUOFM?? I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard, especially if you got other mods to help out..?

My thoughts are so long as it's open and put to the members of the forum and not a decision made by a select few then it should be a good thing.

My impression was that it would be a poll. Allowing everyone to vote on the cars nominated. The poll should be open to ALL forum members.

Thanks Kris.

As mentioned in the opening post, I suggested that this would be run similar to the Projects area PCOTY. For those that are not aware of how that is run, any car, or person (I suggested that I would like to open this member contributions in general) that is nominated are placed in a polling thread. The result and votes are public and therefor all above board.

Can I get some indication from members if you would vote in something like this?

If so, I will be sure to start a nominations thread (as a sticky) with a plan to start and enable the voting process over the next three months. Initially, I would be calling for nominations to close on the 30/6/2013.

Before I start the Nominations thread, I will bounce this off admin to see if this is all above board and not causing any conflict.

Cheers
Stu

I have heard from Russ. He has been following this thread and thinks that it is a good idea.

Do we need to set a few guidelines?

I am thinking nominations close at the end of the preceding quarter, and voting starts at the beginning of the quarter through to the end of the quarter? Whilst voting is in place, nominations can be made for the next quarter?

Thoughts or any other ideas ladies and gents?

To get the ball rolling quickly. For the first time around how about having nominations finish by 31/5 and then voting during June ending on the 30th. 1st of July, we have our first COTQ/MOTQ (member).
Essentially, voting months could be March, June, September and December. Closing on the last day of each of those months. The two months before each voting month can be for nominations.
The COTQ/MOTQ will be stickied for 3 months..

Does that make sense..?
