Default 2017 50th Anniversary Falcon GT?

Would Ford build some before they shut shop in Oct 2016?

Would be a nice parting gift.
Be a shame if they didn't have something to celebrate 50 years of GT Falcon.

Can they make a 2017 model in 2016?

I guess they can if they call it a MY17 like a lot of car makers do.

I want Ford to really give the Falcon the send off it deserves. Bring all the old name plates back including Fairmont/Fairmont Ghia etc.

But FPV are Ford now? One and the same. Wouldn't they go at the same time? Why would FPV go before the Falcon?

I guess there could be an FPV that tweaks the imported cars but where would they do that with no factory?

There was no mention of FPV closing up shop early on thursday. It will be business as usual come monday. We've got GTs to build for you guys.
As a side note, Geelong Engine Plant (GEP) is nearing no.200 in its s/c V8 build program. All personally signed by the individual builder.

With no more F6 and V8 engines being produced in low numbers of around six or seven a day, that means around 150 FPVs a month.
Given the current low volume of Falcon sales, the added revenue of FPV and I-6T models is probably now very significant and valuable.

I hope Ford carries the V8s and I-6Ts through to the '14 car, there's still seems to be a good % of buyers wanting them.
After Thursday's announcement, we cannot afford the luxury of expecting Ford to keep fronting up with our favorite Falcon
models just in case we want to buy one some day.......

I wouldn't imagine FPV would go before Falcon but it won't be there a day after Falcon goes. There's no business case for them on imported models.

If Ford were to pre build a limited number of 2017 models they would likely have to do the full build, I can't see them keeping a skeleton crew around for a few months to build up a set of 2016 body in whites into 2017 GT's. They could always get the engineers to hand finish them and pass them off as some skunkworks exercise but it would be damned expensive.

Any car built after 1 November 2016 must be Euro V compliant which any Broadmeadows built car clearly will not be (given that is a factor in Ford's decision).

It might be like in 1982 when the last V8 rolled off the plant and never to return.

Really the only reason why Falcon is being stopped is because Ford can make better profit with cars being built out of Asia - 4 times the costs remember. CAPITALISM

After all the all built Indian FIGO sells for only $7,690.00 also add the Fusion, Fiesta, Mondeo and Endeavour to being made in India cheaper makes more PROFIT for Ford.

Remember in the 80's car import tariffs were around 43% and now they are 5% - how can locally made compete in labor costs alone let alone when the Govt makes it cheaper for imports?

At the end of the day we all wanted more choices and locally made suffers - not only Ford but everything we make, produce.... that's the FREE market everyone wants

Maybe in 2016 we will get the last 500 cars to be made turned into a Cobra???

As many have stated there is no case for Ford to invest in a send off GT as building a muscle car that gives no long term gain is pointless .
I suspect the best we can hope for is a sc 351 or GT351 sticker pack R spec , limited to a few colours . I'd be happy if GTE and GTP were dropped if all we got was the GT 351 R spec , and with those stickers on the side I'm sure all cars would sell out by before production even started .
As for a GTHO sadly that name I feel shall be resigned to history for good.
Although a GTHO 390 or 427 does sound rather good ....... I guess we shall just have to wait and see and hopefully we won't be Dissapointed!

Apparently dealers have had heaps of enquiries of people wanting to buy GT's over the past 3 days.

Lets hope the enquiries continue after the deadline to close.

Wouldn't it be nice that demand was such that the plant had to stay open to continue making orders

I find it hard to believe that there have been less than 200 s/c V8's sold considering they have been around since 2011.

He's talking about since Ford have taken over FPV builds, with the S/C V8 assembly being done at Geelong Engine. Which has only been since January this year.

G'day stevz. Geelong engine plant (GEP) have only been making these since early 2013. This is what I am refering to. Not sold units but geelong built units. Before that they were built by FPV in melbourne.

Maybe it is 200 since the FPV stock ran out and the handbuilt process in Geelong started?

There were 125 of the 2011 All Black model alone - and another 175 of the latter R-spec?
Happy to be corrected if I am wrong

They should build a limited edition 2016 GT-HO and the very last car should be a one off calypso green GT-HO "Phase 5" fully loaded with a engine and luxury spec higher than any other falcon to date. Give it white leather to celebrate the calypso green XA GT-HO and put every falcon buyer from the time they made the announcement until they stop taking orders from dealers to automatically go in the draw to win it after it rolls off the assembly line.
