I am looking for another flywheel for my Formula Ford which has the Cortina/Escort 1600 Crossflow engine.
I always relied on Small Four at Padstow but they are long gone. Anyone know anywhere in Sydney South that carries bits for Cortinas/Escorts? Cheers Pete |

Small Four at Padstow are now Small Ford at Minto. Saw Brian today and got a flywheel. Good to see someone has bits for our cars.

Hi , As a Historic Racer of Cortinas I am surprised you would be using a Standard Ford Flywheel.
I am not across the regs for Formula Ford but we always use a machined Steel Flywheel.(unless the 1600 had a steel one) The reason of course is that Cast ones tend to shatter with bits flying off in every direction, possibly wrecking parts of the car and injuring people. I saw one let go at Winton Raceway and 4 cars ended up with serious damage . There other other advantages which I won't go into here in case the FF regs don't allow them. |
