Default New ACCC fuel saving App.

Just found this on news site.....Its a great new App for your smartphone that follows the fuel price cycle and tells you when is a good time to refill.

The latest idea to save on fuel is to fill up whenever the price cycle is at its lowest point in the week.

We almost designed an app like this a while ago, unfortunately as said previously WA is the only state that has regulations on their fuel prices. e.g they have to post fuel prices and aren't allowed to change them for 24hours, where as melbourne for example runs off a system of shaking an 8ball and deciding the price on the hour....

The ACCC and Informed Sources are currently facing off in the Federal Court. The Commission alleges Informed Sources and major petrol retailers have been sharing pricing information in a way that “substantially lessens competition”.

Prior to the legal action, the ACCC was buying pricing data from Informed Sources.
and this goes a long way to explaining why every single ACCC report into price fixing concludes there is no cartel. If they are being fed their pricing data by the petrol companies then what can you expect..

Its not that much dearer out here in rural Vic, its about the same price as Melbourne and sometimes cheaper, but at most I only have to go there every 2nd week

900km to a tank ftw

i remember working at a servo as a young bloke, the boss would come into work and if he had forgotten to check the opposition servos fuel prices on the way in , he would give me 2 buks and tell me to go fill my car up ..... funny guy... Edit, oh yeah and he would set his prices about the same..

your probably only going to save a few bucks anyway unless its a really big tank, most of the time even if fuel is cheaper elsewhere i fill up at the one servo as a rule anyway,
because he has a lot of customers and his tanks get emptied and filled up pretty quick in the hope i will keep getting a good tank of fuel, that is my theory anyway..
