Default Aussie Mondeo specs announced

Firstly, if you want to whinge about the Falcon and how the Mondeo will never replace it...blah...blah, please look elsewhere and keep this thread on the Mondeo.

Ford have just announced the specs of the Aussie-spec Mondeo, and can I say, it's very well equipped! Even the entry level model comes with sat nav.

Car Advice's article: http://www.caradvice.com.au/323450/2...ails-revealed/

2015 Ford Mondeo key features model by model:

Ford Mondeo Ambiente
16-inch alloy wheels
Fog lights
Front and rear parking sensors
Electronic park brake
Cruise control
Dual-zone climate control
Leather steering wheel and gearshifter
Paddleshifters
Cloth upholstery
SYNC 2 infotainment system with satellite navigation and digital radio
8.0-inch high-resolution touchscreen
Bluetooth connectivity and USB, RCA and SD card inputs
Inflatable rear seatbelts
MyKey system

Ford Mondeo Trend (gains over Ambiente):
17-inch alloy wheels
Dual exhausts
Puddle lamps
Auto folding mirrors
Keyless entry
Adaptive cruise control
Auto dimming rear-view mirror
Push-button start
10-way power front seats with heaters (driver’s seat with memory)
Auto headlights and high beam
Rain-sensing wipers
Part-leather upholstery
Reverse-view camera
Active city stop braking

Ford Mondeo Titanium (gains over Trend):
18-inch alloy wheels
Sports body kit
Power tailgate (wagon only)
Adaptive suspension
Adaptive LED headlights
LED daytime running lights
Panoramic glass roof (fixed on hatch, power operated on wagon)
Driver’s side electrochromatic mirror
Leather sports seats with rear heaters
Multi-colour ambient lighting
Scuff plates
Power reach/rake steering column
Aluminium pedal covers
Blind spot detection
Enhanced active park assist
Lane keeping aid and assist
Lane departure warning
Driver impairment monitor

Ford's website: http://www.ford.com.au/cars/new-mondeo

Now my only concern is that the images show the unpopular touch buttons instead of proper physical buttons on the dash. I understand that the Euro Mondeo will revert to traditional buttons so hopefully our model will too.

Impressive specifications list and also very good mix of engines. This is a huge upgrade from the current Mondeo range.

Its a great colour, I've always wanted Ford to offer a nice vehicle in that colour.

I can't wait to see it in the flesh !

A great looking car, the fuel economy on the petrol engines dont appear to be too special for an up to the minute design, or am I missing something?

No Mondeo XR4/5/6 ? They're missing out on a volume seller which would work just with a badge right there...

There will be no XR Fords post 2016, so there will never be an XR Mondeo.

An ST Mondeo however ........

Stay tuned for that one.

XR badging is dead on anything other than local cars, which is why the current Focus is branded ST (like everywhere else) rather than XR5 to suit our local market.

Yes, but there was such a thing as an XR Mondeo (as opposed to there never will be one)

Looking forwards to seeing what Ford do with the Fusion/Mondeo ST.

Do they do a turbo model. Is it front or rear wheel drive. Looks like a small falcon.

Found it. 4cyl turbo. east west so must be FWD . Shame.

Urban dictionary.

Mondeo man defn.

Career driver, especially travelling salesman. From the large numbers of Ford Mondeos used as company cars.

If youre in the fast lane, stuck behind a van, doing 90 anyway, mondeo man will always tailgate you flashing his lights.

The XR name has been gone on Euro fords for a cpl years now. Hence Focus/Fiesta ST
Also Ford have had a pearl white on the MKII FL ST but it never same to OZ.

But yes i agree a pearl white would be awesome.

Any particular reason why the Mondeo isn't offered here with a manual trans?
Does Ford Aus see no market for a medium sized car with a 6sp manual?

On another note, it is interesting to see that the FGX Falcon is certainly styled as a
transition to this new Mondeo.

Correct. Despite the vocal minority demanding a manual transmission, the vast majority will buy an auto trans in a car of this size.

Manual owners are pretty picky, id bet most would happily wait a month or so extra for one to turn up. Since FoA does SFA other than import then whats the problem?
