Yeah I used to do that (before kids) at least once or twice a year.
Makes a difference once they are back on the car, gives it that "new rims" look.

I clean mine if I do a rotation, glad I did because there was heaps of rust and crud on the hubs which I also cleaned. Had I left it a year or more I would have had trouble getting them off I reckon.

It is good to give the wheels a good clean , the crud often hides cracks and damage, especially on aftermarket wheels.

I stumbled across this Video recently and thought Wow, that's taking wheel cleaning to a whole new level. Can't say it's not done right.

Ha, goes to all that trouble for his wheels and just blasts the brakes with a pressure sprayer, talk about taking shortcuts

Use some silicon spray on the inside so the dirt and crud just rinses off with a normal wash. Time to take them off again.

It was easy cleaning inside the BA XR8 wheels on the EF with the five spokes. Just reach in with the sponge. The G6ET 19s are impossible to clean between the spokes dammit!

I did the same, some sort of nano spray.

I use to regularly have to scrub the inside of the rims to keep them clean but after the nano spray everything just rinses off with a jet of water from the hose.

Easy to apply and a fantastic time saver.

An important thing to remember is that most wheels have are painted &/or have clear coat, so just treat them like you would the paint on your panels. Some wheel cleaners contain chemicals that can be harmful to paint. Also high pressure water held too close can lift paint. You wouldn't use a scouring pad on your bonnet but you see people using them on their wheels, all this does is scratch the painted surface & encourages dirt to stick. Use of a clay bar is quite fussy but it depends how much time you have I guess.

Theyre a little dirty cos I just got back from a quick thrash over the dandys, made the zf work for a change

Like i said earlier, you cant really see into the wheel in iphone pics but if you have the same or similar colour wheels that havent been off to be cleaned, you should be able to see the difference

I sometimes remove the rims on my Renault Megane to clean them because it is easy to remove two wheels at once. The stiff chassis allows it so when you jack up the front wheel, the rear wheel lifts up as well.

Wouldn't be quite this keen on the GT though.
