Default Why are you selling your FPV

I keep a close eye on carsales for FPV vehicles
I've noticed over the last couple of weeks for
instance F6 sedans for sale have risen from 43 to 64
GS sedans 19 to 26 GTFs 14 to 17 and GTs are up
as well, just wondering are people moving on or going
for a FGX or maybe getting ready for a Mustang?
FPV prices still seam to be firm though. Or are you
struggling to sell your car? I guess the economy isn't exactly going gangbusters! Any thoughts guys?

My guess is the cars are getting older and some people are moving on to newer cars, may be company car leases are up.

A series 2 BF GT is now 8 years old, BA's are 10 plus years.

Its our hero car and every Ford enthusiast would want one and later this year Australian delivery becomes reality, and will be available at a fair price, cheaper than the XR8 and SS V Redline.
Hopefully supply wont be an issue for the V8 Mustang.

Thats what I'm thinking a lot of guys are getting ready for the new Mustang, wonder if the Falcon FPVs will fall out of vogue and become a dinosaur from days gone by! hope not.

I think more are up for sale simply because many aren't selling so numbers are gradually increasing. Plus end of the mining boom etc means expensive toys go

All of the above, plus some owners finally realise there is little-no intrinsic value in keeping these cars, add in end of warranty period means it is time to sell. We live in an era where it is a consume and dispose culture.

I forgot about leases as post 2 mentions.
F6 came out in 2008 so now just reaching the end of the max lease term. I suspect many newer others for sale are coming off lease too.

I sold mine due to poor build quality and terrible service from Ford dealerships. The "warranty" I had with my brand new FPV seemed worth less than the paper it was written on...so I bailed.

The cars that are leased would probably only be on carsales for 2 to 3 months max. Just before the lease ends until the owner needs to do something with either a lease extension or trade.

I think they represent good value considering the power and ride quality compared to older big dollar steel bumper cars.
One guy on the radio said Aussies don't know how good they have it being able to buy a high powered V8 compared to Europe where they pay heaps more for similar power outputs and it looks like it may continue with the Mustang and new Camaro coming

Thats good to hear that there are guys out there like myself who share the passion for FPV vehicles and aren't prepared to part with them,or in some cases selling to buy up. I'm happy with my F6 and don't plan on parting with it anytime soon.
To me it represents Australian motoring and personally I think we built bloody good cars

Sold my FG F6 just after Christmas it was one of the 6 or so manuals advertised at the time. I think there was a total of 50 FG F6 for sale at the time. Had reasonable interest and the first to see bought it but it was immaculate defiantly one of the best and surpassed many with less Km. It had however only covered 40,000km itself. Why did I sell. I wanted the last falcon V8 and the miss's said I had to give one up to purchase another as 7 car is enough apparently! Could have afforded to keep it but these things happen and the new V8 has been in the shed for a month now which makes the loss easier! I won't however miss the started button and the nightmare with getting FPV parts. I also got exactly what I wanted for it too.

Cheers Ryan

No thoughts of selling my GT-P at all. IMO only real alternative to the GT-P would be a HSV & I've been there & won't do that again.

Only car I check on Carsales is the manual Boss 335 GT-P & with another quick check this morning, there is currently 4 available in Australia ranging from $59,990 to high 60's.

The new Mustang GT interests me but not sold on it yet. Great value imo though but would rather a Shelby or a Rousch. Even if I go a Mustang there is no way I will part with the GT-P. One of the last Falcons & a great car to boot!

Just had a browse of FPVs on carsales....pricing is ambitious at best, quality of ads is mind numbingly poor, certainly not geeing me up to go inspect and buy.

Dude selling a b series F6 with 20K on the ODO (ticking all the boxes), no interior pictures, exterior pics are dark and don't even show the whole car front pic is of the car on jack stands...WTF, not even bothered to take a few nice shots..

No wonder they're not selling.

I think this comment has a lot of merit.
Some FPV owners just want to upgrade to a newer FPV.
Also, as a percentage of FPV vehicles sold, the amount on car sales in miniscule. I think a lot of FPV owners are keeping their unique toys. Sandown GT nationals will be testament to that. There will be plenty of well kept and pampered FPV there for sure..... More than what's on carsales for sale....
