Default LW Focus Tow Rating -Australia vs. Elsewhere

I notice the tow rating for this car is 900kg (braked).

In the UK, it is 1500 kg, as per the video above. Any idea what the story is here?

Wow that's a big difference.
I would imagine its a case of Ford Oz being risk averse and rating it low due to the harsher climate here.
Toyota did the same thing with the diesel RAV4 when they released it here with a braked rating of 500kg. After public ridicule they upped it to 1000kg but its still way below its class. It makes you wonder what they know about the driveline to do that. If they don't want you to tow with it I would be worried about its overall long term reliability even without towing.
