Does anyone know the letter prefix of general issue Victorian number plates for cars being issued in 1996?
Obviously it was a range but specifically need the first letter range to help confirm whether or not a car was originally from Victoria. Tried lots of ways, the manufacturer can't help, don't know the selling dealer, net searches don't help and so this is the only way to check unless I buy the car and run checks then. For this car the original state of rego is a make or break for purchasing so any help is appreciated. Thanks |

Neighbour bought his VS Commodore brand new in 1996, it bears a NLx-XXX plate.

I dont think the Vicroads website can be 100% accurate, as plates would have been sent to the various locations in batches and issued only on demand. So NLx-xxx could well have been issued in 1996 contrary to the Vicroads link that I posted up.

Still remember riding in a brand new navy blue EF Falcon in June 96. Car was quick, stylish and comfortably destroyed VR/VS commodores at the lights. Even kept up with a '93 Corvette up to 80kph. NVK 624 was the plates, so N was the prefix in 1996 for Vicroads Std Plates
