In a word no. In a sentence, not without a LOT of work.

In a contradictory word: Yes
Depends on whether you've got an EAII though. You need the 4 speed auto to start off with. Contact Dellboy999 or myself for more details ;) Dellboy did his first and knows much more about the conversion than I do (I asked him a lot of questions!), but I'm still happy to answer any questions. Refer to my sig for details. There's also several threads floating about regarding this conversion. Do a search mate ;) -Dave- |

Oh, and CFI/MPFI doesn't matter, has nothing to do with the tranny. The only thing that matters is having a 4 speed auto. Can't do it with a 3 speeder, unless you swap the box and add an appropriate ECU so that your EA has 4 gears. Dellboy started out with a 3 speed and did a 4 speed conversion if I remember correctly ;)

Dave is right, I changed my car from 3 speed to 4speed auto and also swapped the diff to a 3.23 over the 2.77, then came the BA Shifter and is fully functional, as Dave as mentioned as questions if you like, I am also happy to answer, some links in my sig will help you out.

Hmm, he didnt say he had an auto though. Maybe he wants the 5 speed shifter?
So, to answer your question - more info needed.

If you seriously want this mod, you will need a 4 speed auto.

How bout chucking a manual valve body in the 3 speed?
Or one of those reverse-pattern ratchet shifters :P b2tf >> Ghia5L : lol (off topic) OK here's a stupid idea: 7 speed auto = 2 x 3 speed boxes in series. It'd work in a really odd kind of way, but it'd be something only Dellboy would ever attempt I'd bet he'd do it in a BA too, the opposite of retro-tech :P -Dave- |

I have been VERY tardy with uploading up my install doco :(
Four reasons: 1) Install STILL looks ugly (see thread listed in my sig for pix). I'm gonna make a leather gear boot from a seat kindly to-be donated from Wayne 2) Need a drill + time + weather to sort out the goddamn P-R-N-D issue 3) Flat out at work (was previously flat out at uni), no time to do anything! 4) I was gonna include some shift kit info, however I tried my final attempt last night and the ECU still cracked the sads : , so I dunno what to do about this problem :( The install isn't that hard though! -Dave- |

lol, well I used a crowbar & hammer on the steering column plate :P
And I used an ornamental sword the other night on the clutchfan shroud (while still in engine bay) to stop the f**king thing from fouling on the fan! clackclackclackclackclackclack : The drill is for adding another hole in the shift point arm on the box. Then I'll reattach the shifter cable lower down on the arm so it moves the arm further. This'll definitely get P for me! As long as I change it while the arm is in the D position ;) ;) The EB's instrument cluster & centre console are in pieces at the moment, replacing C/C & trip comp, but ran out of time! Meh, the car's off the road at the moment (hit a wombat at 70kph, dropping a lot of 710 fluid) anyhoo so it's no big deal. Might get it (BA stuff) done by xmas :P -Dave- |

Mine is attached through the first small hole below the original large one that had the rubber grommet through it.

Small hole below the original large one? I don't recall seeing a 2nd one :( But that's what I'm thinking of, just a small hole below the large one, as mine is currently thru the large one.
"Large one" = "Meow" in this post :-/ -Dave- Large one |

Well if there is no hole, then get drilling and you will have all gears, as I said once before, my shifter tends to float in the drive position and can be easily moved to almost show neutral with a very light push forward, but I have PRND and you dont so :P

how does the shifter operate through gears, ive got an ef. my olds have a ba.
does it stay in the gear thats selected. meaning can it be changed directly into forth like the ba and stay in that even when stationary. or is it just resticting the car to the gear thats selected like the original shifter. also i've noticed the ba gives a rev inbetween 1st and 2nd if u drive it like a manual,by letting ur foot off and smashing it back down |

Why not have one gearbox for the front wheels, and another for the back? All Wheel Drive E(B)A!

It basically restricts the car to gear otherwise writting a whole new trans controller would be too big an exercise, but if you are in 2nd and the logic of the trans controller would allow 1st (i.e. you are not going to redline) then it will change down a gear and off you go, then flick it up a gear, and down a gear as you feel.
I use it coming into a turn to slow up , flick it accross tot he left instant 3rd gear, click it forward instant 2nd gear and some engine breaking.

2x3 = 7 because it was a typo :P
The EA 3 speed has three ratios (ya don't say!) being X:1, Y:1 and 1:1 I dunno what the 1st & 2nd gears are, hence X and Y. So, you've got six possible different ratios: X:1 x X:1 (1st x 1st then thru to diff) X:1 x Y:1 (1st x 2nd then thru to diff) <-- same as Y:1 x X:1 too. X:1 x 1:1 (1st x 3rd... = 1st, thru to diff) Y:1 x Y:1 (2nd x 2nd then thru to diff) Y:1 x 1:1 (2nd x 3rd... = 2nd, thru to diff) 1:1 x 1:1 (3rd x 3rd... = 3rd, thru to diff) -Dave- |
